The Federal Police (PF) will launch an investigation to ascertain the destination of funds sent by businessman Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master, under the justification of funding a film production.
The Brazilian senator and presidential candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro, requested amounts from Vorcaro to finance the film and had previously stated that all resources would be used exclusively for the production, denying any irregularities.
The inquiry aims to determine if part of this amount was used to cover expenses for his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, in the United States, or to support other initiatives of Jair Bolsonaro's allies with the Donald Trump administration.
The decision to open the investigation came after a opinion from the Public Prosecutor's Office, which considered there were sufficient elements to initiate the formal process of investigating the financial transfers.
In June, Andrei Rodrigues, director-general of the PF, advocated for the initiation of an inquiry to examine all circumstances related to the sending of funds to the United States, allegedly to finance the film.
Sources linked to the investigations indicate that the resources were transferred by a company linked to Vorcaro to a fund located in Texas, which is managed by supporters of Eduardo Bolsonaro.
The portal The Intercept Brasil revealed in May that Daniel Vorcaro helped finance the film Dark Horse, which caused difficulties in Flávio Bolsonaro's campaign.
Audio records show that Flávio negotiated with Vorcaro the amount of 134 million reais (equivalent to about 22.65 euros at the current exchange rate), and the banker even disbursed 64 million reais (which corresponds to 10.9 million euros).
One of these conversations took place last November, one day before the banker was arrested by Brazilian police for financial fraud related to Banco Master. Since then, the Brazilian press has reported on questionable activities of individuals and companies linked to the production, in addition to exposing contradictions between Flávio and other politicians regarding the financing of the biopic.
Additionally, at the beginning of this month, the Federal Police of Brazil initiated another inquiry to investigate possible irregularities in the production of the film Dark Horse involving the use of public money. The suspicion points out that five Bolsonarista deputies from the Liberal Party (PL) allegedly directed 4.6 million reais, equivalent to 777 thousand euros, through parliamentary amendments to entities associated with the film's production.
Flávio Bolsonaro requested judicial intervention to investigate the profiles responsible for attacks directed at him. This request comes approximately one month after the newspaper O Globo revealed that low-audience pages on social media invested 1 million reais (equivalent to about 172.1 thousand euros) to promote publications containing offenses against Flávio Bolsonaro.
The criticisms promoted on Facebook and Instagram also reached Tarcísio de Freitas, the current governor of São Paulo, who is running for re-election. Tarcísio is described as being sympathetic to Bolsonarism and heads the Brazilian state with the largest population, greatest wealth, and largest number of voters in the country.
Rogério Marinho, coordinator of Flávio's campaign and opposition leader in the Brazilian Senate, informed a press conference that the campaign identified a minimum of 20 thousand fake profiles. According to Marinho, these same profiles moved about 20 million reais (equivalent to 3.44 million euros) to disseminate defamatory content against Flávio Bolsonaro.
Marinho highlighted the difficulty in quantifying the full extent of the fraud orchestrated against the right in Brazil, due to the large volume and speed at which these activities occur on social media. In Brasília, after meeting with Kassio Nunes Marques, president of the Superior Electoral Court and judge of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court, Marinho stated that they sought the support of the Electoral Justice to begin the investigation and discover who finances such attacks on democracy.
The campaign avoided pointing to specific parties, candidates, or individuals as responsible for the coordinated attacks. A request was made to the TSE judge for a confidentiality breach based on evidence obtained from Meta, the company responsible for Facebook and Instagram, specifically regarding the data of contractors and advertisers.
Maria Claudia Bucchianeri, a lawyer on Flávio Bolsonaro's campaign legal team, clarified that the information was gathered from public sources available on the platforms themselves. She emphasized that there is a point where progress becomes impossible without a judicial order, questioning who made the payment, the credit card holder, or the phone number.
Ana Cristina Valle, the former spouse of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, faced the blocking of her bank accounts by the Electoral Justice after she failed to repay a debt within the specified period.
According to Brazilian publications, the amount related to the block reaches 227 thousand reais, equivalent to approximately 39 thousand euros. This decision was made after Ana Cristina Valle was convicted in 2025 to reimburse the country's Treasury Ministry for violations discovered during her campaign as a district deputy in the 2022 elections.
If the debt is not repaid, the next step will be to seize vehicles and real estate registered in the name of Bolsonaro's ex-partner, who is currently also facing legal issues. Ana Cristina Valle, mother of Jair Renan, has 15 days to provide an explanation regarding the account blockage through judicial bodies.
Furthermore, her reporting for the 2022 candidacy was rejected because she did not provide any justification or document capable of rectifying the identified deficiencies.
