China and ASEAN member states have published a joint statement dedicated to responding to the regional consequences of events in the Middle East and strengthening cooperation in the energy sector.
This statement was unveiled following the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which took place on July 22 in Manila, Philippines.
In their statement, China and ASEAN emphasized that they continue to support dialogue and cooperation on international and regional issues of common interest. Both sides acknowledged that the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East and its secondary effects pose a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to global and regional peace, stability, and economic activities, including trade, investment, energy, and food security.
The statement highlighted the critical importance of resolving disagreements through diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful means, which must be carried out in accordance with international law. Furthermore, the parties noted China's efforts to put forward a four-point proposal aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The governments of China and Thailand published a joint statement on Monday aimed at forming a community between the two countries to achieve a shared prosperous future.
