He noted that numerous important steps have been taken in the past month and a half since the incident. Those responsible have been arrested and are in jail.
Modi emphasized that their main goal was to prevent the loss of a year of the students' lives. Therefore, it was crucial to conduct the exams immediately. The government used all its resources to complete the exams for about 22 million students in the shortest possible time. The results were announced just 5-6 days ago, on the 19th, and reports of joy among successfully passed students are coming in from across the country.
However, Modi stated that they do not intend to stop there. He instructed the relevant departments to prepare a draft for a fast-track court. The departments worked diligently and presented him with a draft late at night. This draft, which provides for a fast-track court and severe penalties, will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow. After comments from the Cabinet colleagues, it will be finally approved. The second week of the parliamentary session begins on Monday, and the authorities will try to pass this bill in the house as soon as possible.
Sonam Wangchuk ended his indefinite fast, which began 26 days ago, after receiving assurances from the government.
