Bekhzod Musaev, head of the Migration Agency, held talks with Tuscany Governor Eugenio Giani. The parties discussed ways to implement the directives issued by the Uzbek president following their meeting on July 14, 2026, as well as mechanisms for the practical realization of the agreements reached.
One of the central issues raised during the negotiations was the employment of Uzbek doctors and nurses in Tuscan medical institutions in high-paying positions. During the visit, the Uzbek delegation also met with Riccardo Zucchi, Rector of the University of Pisa. An agreement was signed to create a joint educational program that will prepare candidates from Uzbekistan to work in Italy in accordance with Italian medical standards, including learning the Italian language.
The delegation visited the construction site of the new hospital of the University of Pisa, where Uzbek specialists are planned to be involved in the future. Furthermore, both sides discussed opportunities to organize practical training for medical personnel at the university hospital.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement to create a trilateral joint venture that will conduct geological surveys.
The document was signed on July 17 following a working visit by the Azerbaijani delegation to Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov. During this visit, Jabbarov participated in the fifteenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on cooperation together with the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov.
The main topic of the meeting was deepening trade and investment interaction in line with the priorities set by the heads of both countries. The parties focused on forming new production and logistics chains connecting Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as developing transport and logistics routes along the Middle Corridor and expanding investment partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, energy, transport, agriculture, food security, healthcare, and environmental protection, as well as other priority areas. Additionally, an agreement defining the terms for creating a trilateral joint venture was signed, which will include the companies AzerGold, Uzbekgeologorazvedka JSC, and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company. This new structure will carry out geological exploration activities.
In Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan held the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation and the Business Council, during which a new agreement covering investment, industrial cooperation, and mineral resource development was signed.
Representatives of state bodies and leading business circles from both countries took part in the meeting. The main goal of the discussions was to expand trade and economic interaction, as well as strengthen investment and industrial partnership.
Participants noted a significant growth in bilateral trade, which reached almost 40% between January and May 2026. The parties confirmed their common goal of increasing annual trade turnover to 1 billion US dollars.
During the council, the progress of joint projects in areas such as geological exploration, precious metal mining, textile industry, tourism, and urban development was reviewed. Additionally, initiatives in the pharmaceutical, electrical engineering, and food sectors, as well as the production of building materials, were discussed.
Special attention was paid to strengthening interregional cooperation and preparing for the fourth Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum, scheduled for August. The parties also discussed expanding the portfolio of projects managed by the joint investment company. At the end of the meeting, the protocol of the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as a package of bilateral agreements concerning investment, financing, industrial cooperation, geological exploration, and mineral exploitation, were signed.
The Bukhara Region of Uzbekistan and the Tuscany region of Italy signed a Joint Declaration on the Development of Cooperation and Friendly Relations.
The signing took place following a meeting between the Governor of the Bukhara Region, Botir Zaripov, and a delegation from Tuscany led by Regional President Eugenio Gianni, as reported by the press service of the Bukhara regional administration.
Discussions emphasized that the current stage of interaction is based on agreements reached in Florence in March of this year. At that time, the Uzbek ambassador to Italy, Abat Faizullaev, and Gianni expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation between the Bukhara Region and Tuscany in the fields of economy, investment, trade, and culture.
Botir Zaripov noted that Bukhara and Tuscany possess rich historical heritage, cultural traditions, developed crafts, and significant tourism potential. He characterized Tuscany as an important partner for developing joint work in tourism, culture, industrial cooperation, textile and leather industries, agricultural product processing, education, healthcare, and modern technologies.
The Governor also recalled an agreement concluded in April, which provides for establishing partnerships between Bukhara and the Italian city of Siena. The Uzbek side stated its readiness to implement practical projects within this partnership in the areas of culture, tourism, education, and urban development.
Participants discussed the initiative of the Romoldo Del Bianco Foundation to install a bust of Michelangelo in Bukhara, noting that this project could become a symbol of cultural dialogue between the Bukhara Region and Tuscany. Furthermore, the parties considered prospects for implementing joint projects aimed at strengthening economic, investment, trade, and cultural interaction. Eugenio Gianni confirmed Tuscany's interest in strengthening the partnership and exchanging best practices.
The signed declaration is intended to serve as a basis for further interregional cooperation, strengthening business ties, and expanding cultural and humanitarian relations between the Bukhara Region and Tuscany.
