The first international forum of partner cities was organized in the city of Samarkand. This event was held with the assistance of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for International Relations and Affairs of Citizens Abroad, the Alliance of Partner Cities, and the Khokimiyat of the Samarkand Region.
Participants and Goal of the Forum
Representatives of ministries and departments of the country, employees of international organizations, local and foreign experts, heads of partner cities, as well as representatives of the business community and public organizations took part in the forum.
The forum started as an international scientific and practical conference titled 'Partner Cities – A New Model for Sustainable Development and People's Diplomacy.'
Key Statements at the Opening
At the opening ceremony, Qahramon Sariev, head of the Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for International Relations and Affairs of Citizens Abroad, and the region's governor Adiz Boboev delivered speeches. They emphasized that this international forum, being held for the first time in the country, will contribute to the development of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with various cities around the world, as well as the implementation of joint projects in tourism and other areas.
Currently, cities are becoming important centers of economic progress, investment, innovation, tourism, and cultural exchange. This significant forum is aimed at expanding cooperation between cities of different countries around the world, developing people's diplomacy, and strengthening mutual trust and friendship.
Program of Events
The forum includes an international scientific and practical conference, B2B and B2G meetings, presentations of investment projects, exhibitions, and ceremonies for signing cooperation agreements.
