NASA employee warns that China could overtake the US in the lunar race

For the first time, artificial intelligence systems achieved the maximum score in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Models developed by Huawei and Xiaohongshu correctly solved all proposed problems after human competitors finished the test.

Unprecedented performance of Chinese models

Huawei announced that its system, named Celia, displayed 'comprehensive problem-solving capabilities' in various areas of mathematics. Simultaneously, Xiaohongshu used the dots-note-3.0 model, which was presented for the first time at the IMO. The companies received the questions only after the students completed the assessment and submitted their answers within the deadline set by the organization.

Highlights of this edition of the competition included the participation of 666 competitors from various countries, with only seven human students achieving the maximum score. All participants were under 20 years old. It is relevant to note that Google and OpenAI models had reached the gold level in 2025, but without achieving a perfect score.

In a statement, Xiaohongshu expressed enthusiasm for the achievement, stating that 'achieving a perfect score in the IMO is extremely difficult.'

Evolution of AI in mathematics

This result demonstrates the rapid progress of artificial intelligence models in tasks requiring multi-phase analysis and reasoning. In the 2024 edition of the IMO, for example, Google obtained only a silver medal equivalent score, solving four out of six exam exercises.

Currently, achieving a flawless score brings AI systems closer to the performance level of the best students in the competition.

Debate on AI capability

Despite the remarkable advance, it should be noted that the models were evaluated under conditions different from those of human participants, as they received the problems later and did not follow the same competition guidelines. However, this result serves to reinforce the advancement of artificial intelligence in fields traditionally linked to human reasoning, particularly in high-complexity mathematical challenges.

The main goal of creating these devices is the seamless integration of AI into users' lives. The glasses can summarize long messages, voice information, translate conversations and signs, provide pedestrian directions, and answer questions about objects the user is looking at.

Additional Features and Compatibility

Users can take photos and videos from their point of view, share what they see during a call, or record whiteboard content, saving key information in Samsung Notes. Google confirmed that the glasses will be compatible with both Android phones and iPhones.

Samsung states that up to nine hours of usage is possible on a single charge. An additional case can provide up to seven full recharges, although the actual operating time will depend on the functions used.

Design and Previous Announcements

Two new frame models were presented in London. The Gentle Monster option features a thin black frame with a sharp upper rim, while the brown model from Warby Parker has a slightly raised brow line. These designs were previously shown at the Google I/O conference earlier this year.

Google had previously specified that the first models expected this autumn would be audio glasses, not glasses displaying information directly in front of the user; versions with a display are planned separately. A light signal is provided to indicate camera activity, and Samsung reportedly designed the glasses to prevent recording when this indicator is closed.
