Museums are considered sacred places where the history, memory, and cultural heritage of a nation are preserved. Every exhibit there is a unique testament to the past and an invaluable heritage for future generations.
Preserving every item in the museum's collection is an important task for the state and society. Large-scale inspections conducted in republican state museums revealed the need for serious attention to this issue.
During the inspections, it was established that nearly 500 exhibits were missing from the State Museum-Reserve 'Qo'qon' and its branches. Furthermore, at the State Museum of History and Culture of the Syrdarya Region, although 16 exhibits were listed in the collection, they were not actually found.
Each lost exhibit represents a part of history and a page of national memory. If among them there are unique specimens, their disappearance is not only a material but also a spiritual loss.
Documents concerning the identified cases have been submitted to the prosecutor's office for legal assessment and identification of responsible persons. It is expected that further investigation will clarify when and under what circumstances these exhibits were lost, as well as who is responsible for it.
According to specialists, preventing such incidents requires a number of measures: digitization of museum collections, creation of electronic passports for each exhibit, implementation of modern surveillance systems, and conducting regular independent audits.
Currently, work on inventorying museum collections continues in phases across the country. This process is aimed not only at identifying shortcomings but also at ensuring the complete preservation of national cultural heritage for coming generations.
The placement of the first pillars to demarcate the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has begun following twenty-five years of negotiations. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
Work to determine the state border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan started at the point where the states of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan meet. The parties installed the first four pillars in this area.
The total length of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is 1008.14 kilometers, and the perimeter of the sections with neutral status is 14.07 kilometers.
To date, joint field work has been conducted over an area of about 416 kilometers. The coordinates and locations for 1627 out of the planned 1954 boundary markers have been preliminarily determined.
These sections are located in the Botken and Lailak districts of Kyrgyzstan, the cities of Isfara and Konibodom of Tajikistan, as well as in other regions of Sughd. The process of agreeing on disputed border sections between the two states began in December 2002. Delimitation was completed in March 2025 with the signing of the state border treaty by Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon. The installation of pillars is the next stage—fixing the agreed border line directly on the ground.
