Samsung unveils new lineup at Unpacked 2026, including foldables and AI glasses

Samsung unveiled its new smart glasses during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, held in London, United Kingdom, this Wednesday, the 22nd. This accessory was developed in collaboration with Google and the designer brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, marking the expansion of the Galaxy ecosystem to wearable devices focused on productivity and daily support.

Glasses Features and Technology

These glasses operate as an extension of artificial intelligence, specifically Gemini, positioned directly in the user's field of vision. The main purpose is to offer continuous contextual assistance during daily activities, in the workplace, and while commuting, aiming to reduce the need to pick up the phone for every task.

Technically, the device uses the Android XR operating system and features the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, designed to maintain a balance between AI performance, energy efficiency, and thermal control within a slim frame.

Advanced Features and Design

The wearable includes an integrated camera to analyze visual context and a battery capable of supporting up to nine hours of uninterrupted use. Additionally, it comes with a carrying case that allows for up to seven full recharges. A crucial point is the native integration with Gemini, Google's AI. Through simple gestures or voice commands, the system can summarize extensive texts, read relevant information aloud, perform simultaneous translation in face-to-face conversations, and provide real-time navigation directions based on the user's location, as reported by the South Korean company.

The model also features environmental contextual recognition. It has the ability to record what the user is observing—such as the content of a whiteboard or a meeting presentation—structuring this data in a notepad application for future reference. There is also the possibility of streaming the user's view in real time during video calls, which raises privacy concerns among experts.

Ergonomics and Available Styles

Regarding design and comfort, Samsung worked with optical industry specialists to adjust pressure points on the forehead and ears, which should contribute to comfortable daily use. Two distinct models were displayed: the Gentle Monster version, characterized by a black frame with straight lines on top and curves at the base; and the Warby Parker version, which has a versatile brown shape with slightly raised upper edges.

Concerning commercialization, both Samsung and Google announced that the glasses will be available to the public 'soon'. However, specific details regarding the global launch date, selling prices, and expected arrival in the Brazilian market had not yet been disclosed by the companies at the time of publication.

Samsung will host another Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22nd in London. At this gathering, the company expects to unveil its next range of mobile devices, including new versions of the Galaxy Z foldable line, advancements in artificial intelligence, and new wearable devices.

Evolution of the Galaxy Z Fold Line

Among the main predictions are the Galaxy Z Fold 8 models. There are rumors that Samsung is developing two distinct approaches: one with a wider screen and another with a more sophisticated profile under the designation Ultra.

The most innovative model of this generation could feature a 7.6-inch internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. This feature aims to optimize video viewing by minimizing empty spaces at the edges of the image, offering an experience similar to a tablet on a foldable device.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra variant would maintain an aesthetic similar to the Fold 7 but would receive significant improvements in its internal components and screen. Industry sources suggest that the Ultra brand would be used to differentiate this high-performance model from the conventional device.

Technical Specifications and Innovations

Speculations also point to dimensional changes, with the Fold 8 being built lower and wider than its predecessor, weighing around 201 grams. Both devices are expected to incorporate Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

In terms of photography, the differences between the models would be noticeable. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could come equipped with two 50-megapixel rear cameras, while the Ultra version would have a more complete system, including a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.

Both devices are predicted to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, possess 12 GB of RAM, and offer storage up to 1 TB. The estimated battery capacity is 4,800 mAh for the Fold 8 and 5,000 mAh for the Fold 8 Ultra.

Flex Titanium Technology

Samsung has unveiled Flex Titanium technology, a new screen architecture intended for the next generation of Galaxy foldable devices. This solution integrates titanium components to increase structural resistance, reduce the visibility of the crease, and maintain a thinner design.

After seven generations of evolution in the foldable category, this technology combines a titanium alloy film and a plate made of the same material. The company claims that this combination balances three crucial factors: reduced thickness, bending capability, and greater durability.

Flex Titanium will be integrated into future Galaxy foldables. Samsung justifies its development by the need to enhance the user experience, focusing on visual immersion, screen stability, and mitigating the crease mark.

The structure uses two titanium elements. The titanium alloy film is placed under the OLED panel, serving as internal support, and has a mechanical rigidity 20 times higher than polymeric films. To ensure compatibility with the flexible screen, Samsung employed a high-precision lamination process, reducing the film to about one-third the thickness of a human hair.

The second part is a titanium plate positioned beneath the film, acting as a support base for the screen module, which ensures greater fixation and eliminates air gaps between the structure and the mounting adhesive. With this, the manufacturer aims to develop more resistant, thinner foldable screens that approach a continuous surface when opened.

Wearable Devices and AI

In addition to foldable smartphones, Galaxy Unpacked should detail more about the Galaxy XR glasses. Although they have been shown in past demonstrations, information regarding price, availability, and functionality has not been fully disclosed.

This project involves collaboration with Google and eyewear brands such as Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. It is expected that the product will incorporate cameras and microphones to interact with artificial intelligence features, including Google's Gemini.

Although tested prototypes exist, there is no confirmation regarding the launch date or cost of the glasses.

Smartwatch Updates

The smartwatch line may also be a highlight of the event. Rumors based on certification records and firmware updates indicate the possible presentation of the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

The Ultra 2 model, focused on outdoor activities, could come with an 800 mAh battery, surpassing the capacity of other Wear OS watches. The Galaxy Watch 9 would also receive energy improvements, new processors, and aesthetic changes.

Another item mentioned is the Galaxy Ring 2, the successor to the smart ring launched in 2024. Although Samsung has confirmed work on a new generation of the accessory, it is predicted that it will not be revealed in July, with a later announcement being more likely, perhaps at CES 2027 or Mobile World Congress that year, focusing on autonomy, health sensors, and design.
