During the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, held on Wednesday, the 22nd, in London, United Kingdom, Samsung showcased its largest collection of yearly launches. The event featured the presentation of three new foldable smartphones, two smartwatches, and smart glasses, the latter developed in collaboration with Google.
Device Technologies and Software
All announced devices run on Android 17, utilizing the One UI 9 interface, and incorporate Galaxy AI, powered by Gemini Intelligence. Sales prices in the Brazilian market for the foldable phones, smartwatches, and smart glasses will be disclosed on August 6th during a company event in São Paulo. Global pre-sales are already available for the products.
Updates to the Z Fold Family
The Z line received significant updates. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra marks the debut of the Ultra standard in a foldable device. It stands out as the thinnest Z Fold in Samsung's history, featuring a thickness of 4.1 mm when open and weighing 215 g. Its specifications include a triple camera with a 200 MP main sensor supporting HDR, 8K recording capability with APV codec and Cine LUT, an 8-inch main screen, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging. Processing is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, supporting up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, with an international starting price of US$ 1,899.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is presented as the lightest in the Fold series, weighing only 201 g. This model features optimized aspect ratio screens: 10:16 on the cover for quick access and 4:3 on the inner display, ideal for watching movies, gaming, or reading. It has dual 50 MP rear cameras, a 4,800 mAh battery, and uses the same processor as the Ultra.
Z Flip 8 and Foldable Benefits
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is the most compact and lightweight in the line, measuring 6.1 mm thick and weighing 180 g. Its FlexWindow has been enhanced to concentrate apps, Now Brief, and Gemini commands without needing to open the device. In terms of photography, it offers a 50 MP camera equipped with ProVisual Engine, along with features like Super Steady with Horizontal Lock and Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker.
A common benefit across all three foldable models is the inclusion of six months of free Google AI Pro, which offers 5 TB of cloud storage.
Smartwatches and Smart Glasses
In the smartwatch segment, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Watch 9 were revealed. The Ultra 2, with 47 mm, features a titanium build, an 800 mAh battery, and a screen reaching 5,000 nits. Its functionalities include Trail Run for trail activities, Nutrition Alert for hydration monitoring, and automatic dive tracking, developed in partnership with Mares.
The Watch 9, available in 40 mm and 44 mm versions, focuses intensely on continuous health monitoring through the BioActive sensor, running on the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform and featuring a screen up to 3,000 nits.
AI Integrated Smartglasses
The smart glasses were created in partnership between Samsung and Google, along with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. These smartglasses operate with Android XR and are powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor. They integrate Gemini to offer simultaneous translation, real-time navigation, text summarization, and visual context recognition. The glasses have a built-in camera, a battery life of up to nine hours, and come with a case capable of providing seven additional charges. However, the exact launch date and prices for these glasses have not yet been announced.
