Demonstrations took place in Patna by students, triggered by issues concerning the leakage of examination materials and other matters affecting students. On Wednesday, hundreds of students and activists from various student organizations gathered near the residence of the Chief Minister of the state. The protesters voiced opposition to the government, chanting slogans regarding problems associated with the NEET exam and alleged violations.
During the rally in front of the Chief Minister's residence, students expressed their indignation, demanding attention to the issue of examination material leaks. In response to the crowd, the police used batons, initiated a chase, and assaulted some students. As a result of the incident, several students fell onto the road, after which the police lifted them up and transported them in vehicles.
Earlier, the Patna police stopped protesters at the Dakbanga intersection, setting up barricades there. For an hour, students continued to protest against the government. They then attempted to breach the barricades, to which the police repeatedly ordered them to disperse, but the protesters did not retreat. CISF and CRPF forces were called in to detain them. The students broke through the barricades and headed towards Raj Bhavan. During the demonstration, the protesters also attacked vehicles of politicians from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), forcing one of the MPs to flee to escape danger. Furthermore, an attack on the escort vehicle of the Patna police inspector was recorded.
The protesters also expressed their disagreement by applauding before the Deputy Mayor and senior police officer. Previously, the police had stopped students at the J.P. Golmbar intersection, but they managed to break through the barricades and reach Dakbanga. It should be noted that the movement against the education system and exam leaks in the country has gained national scale, spreading to many states. Students, parents, teachers, and public organizations, including the opposition Congress party, which had previously started protests from Janta Mantar, joined this protest.
In the first half of the day, a fierce clash occurred between BJP activists and Congress members. BJP activists were heading to surround the Congress headquarters, leading to a direct confrontation between the two sides. A fight broke out involving the throwing of stones and the use of batons. Due to the escalation of the situation, the police deployed a large number of security forces to the area. This protest was part of a nationwide campaign by the BJP against the Congress, organized in response to recent actions by the Congress during Rahul Gandhi's visit. BJP activists marched towards the Congress headquarters, where a sharp dispute arose with the present Congress members, which quickly escalated into violent confrontation. Both sides threw stones at each other, causing chaos in the area.
The night before, the opposition leader in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other high-ranking Congress figures held a sit-in protest near the Prime Minister's residence to protest the NEET-UG 2026 exam leak and alleged police actions against students. Later, the Delhi police detained Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, after which they were released after some time. In response to Rahul Gandhi's protests, the BJP launched its campaign in Patna, which led to the stone-throwing incident between BJP activists and Congress near the Congress headquarters.
