A culinary event will take place in Cape Town in November, where the city's top chefs can serve signature dishes without long waits, while guests enjoy music and picturesque views of the Mother City.
Festival Concept
As part of Taste of Cape Town, a two-day food and lifestyle festival, which will be held at the Green Point Cricket Club stadium on November 28 and 29, 2026, guests are promised signature dishes in about four minutes, unlike restaurants where reservations can take six weeks. One ticket grants access to a venue where twelve leading chefs work side by side in an open space, offering visitors the opportunity to taste their dishes for eleven hours daily.
Event Features
The festival excludes waiting lists and closed kitchens; the chef prepares the plate within arm's reach of the standing guest. The Taste series has a rich history, having been held in over 13 cities, including London, Paris, São Paulo, and Dubai. The Cape Town event is conducted under an exclusive South African license belonging to The Allure Group through IMG.
The main idea of the Cape Town edition is 'Feed all the senses.' The festival is divided into five zones, each corresponding to one sense. Guests' journey begins with the smell of wood fire at the entrance and culminates during the Sunset Ritual, when the music subsides, the entire venue turns west, and thousands of glasses are raised with the sunset over Signal Hill.
Organizers and New Elements
The organization is managed by a team known for delivering bold promises. Bonke Shipalana, CEO of the group and co-founder of The Allure Group, notes: 'We are not trying to put on just a good food festival. We are creating the greatest food and lifestyle festival this country has ever seen, and we say that out loud because we know what it takes to make it happen.'
He added that The Allure Group has been creating iconic events for major corporate and government clients in South Africa for many years, and it is thanks to this that they hold the exclusive IMG license for the Taste brand in the country.
Every detail of the festival, from the site layout to the last sip in the evening, is produced according to customer expectations. An additional wave of program elements will be announced by the end of July. These include the Taste Cook School, where chefs conduct masterclasses demonstrating knife skills, plating, wine pairing with prepared dishes, and restaurant secrets. Guests leave with flour on their hands and at least one dish they can recreate at home.
The Slow Life VIP lounge is also presented, offering a relaxed atmosphere for longer enjoyment of wine and hospitality, ideal for the long lunches that Cape Town is famous for. For those who want to get the most out of the weekend, sales of the Taste Lux Pass have opened at a price of 895 rand per person. This pass includes two vouchers for a signature dish, one exclusive voucher, and a welcome drink, allowing advance payment for the best dishes. General admission is 450 rand, while the Taste Lux Pass costs 895 rand and includes three dish vouchers and a welcome drink.
Operating Hours and Information
Gates open daily at 11:00, and kitchens operate until the venue closes. From 19:00 to 22:00, a music stage operates, concluding the day in a Cape Town style: a dish in one hand, a glass in the other, and a band playing against the sunset.
