Renault South Africa has brought back the Trafic Passenger to the local market, marking its return after nearly twenty years of absence. This vehicle is designed to cater to various needs, including large families, shuttle operators, and commercial businesses.
Cabin Features and Capacity
The Trafic Passenger offers three variants, with a starting price of R979,999. The vehicle can accommodate up to nine passengers and is equipped with a modular cabin that allows for changing seat configurations depending on whether more space is needed for passengers or cargo.
By rearranging the seats, the load capacity can be increased to 6,000 liters, and the cabin itself provides up to 84.2 liters of storage space. The dashboard includes an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Depending on the chosen model, wireless smartphone charging, driver seat heating, and enhanced upholstery may be available.
Design and Technical Specifications
The exterior design of the Trafic Passenger aligns with Renault's latest design language. It features C-shaped Pure Vision LED headlights, an updated diamond-shaped Renault logo, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Customers have the option to purchase various accessories, such as roof rails, roof boxes, side steps, tow hook options, and illuminated door sills.
Powertrain and Safety
The powertrain is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, which produces 125 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic EAG9 transmission, which drives the front wheels. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags, as well as rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. More expensive versions are equipped with 360-degree parking sensors.
Furthermore, owners benefit from the global Renault Human First program, an initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of all road users through advanced technology, driver support, and cooperation with emergency services in case of accidents.
Warranty and Pricing
The range of the Renault Trafic Passenger is covered by a mechanical warranty of five years or 150,000 km, a maintenance plan for five years or 90,000 km, and 24-hour roadside assistance.
