The Ponta Fina Estate project, located in Aiuruoca, Minas Gerais, was conceived to reclaim the occupation of a plateau situated on the slope of the Papagaio Mountain Range. This project includes the implementation of a main residence and several auxiliary structures intended for leisure, work, and lodging.
The central house features a symmetrical roof oriented along a diagonal axis. Its projection is positioned to point towards the three waterfalls descending the rocky cliff face on the upper slope. In contrast, the landscape visible at the opposite end of this diagonal axis offers a view of the waterfall located at the bottom of the Valley.
The arrangement of spaces in the main house follows a simple and geometric logic. It houses one bedroom, a vast social area integrating the living room, kitchen, and dining room, as well as two terraces placed on opposite sides.
Each terrace provides a different experience: one, characterized by a lower ceiling height, captures the morning light and frames the valley view. The other, with a high ceiling, opens up to the mountain range and the waterfalls, completing the cycle of light and landscape.
The entire construction process utilized labor and inputs sourced from the region itself, valuing local knowledge and resources. Materials such as reclaimed wood, old utility poles, and Araucaria pines that naturally fell during a gust of wind at the beginning of the construction were employed. This wood was reused and cut into appropriate dimensions to form parts of the structure and the house enclosures.
The residence demonstrates great visual transparency, which allows observation of the exterior and visual passage through the space itself, strengthening the connection between the dwelling and the surrounding nature. The complex is complemented by other buildings, including an old corral that was restored to serve as a storage area and house an outdoor oven. Additionally, there are three wooden chalets, each equipped with one bedroom, a bathroom, and a small living room, in addition to a sauna.
The overall appearance of the constructions reflects their vernacular materiality, typical of the mountainous region: they are simple, authentic, and deeply connected to the location. The choice of materials and the use of local labor, along with respect for the rural environment, establish a remarkable harmony between the architecture and the landscape.
The Casaluna project, characterized as anarchic architecture, was presented by the design team. The residence is located on a 2,650 m² lot situated in Praia Bonita, in Las Terrenas.
Due to the longitudinal disposition of the land, it was possible to create a central axis that structures the ground floor into two side blocks. These volumes are connected through an internal patio.
This architectural approach was planned to optimize cross-ventilation, ensure the penetration of natural light, and maintain a continuous visual connection with the Atlantic Ocean.
The house project located in Las Rosas features open views of the Guadarrama mountain range. The building's concept is based on a composition of five cylinders, which define the overall geometry and the project's intent for several different reasons.
