The ANT ARCTIC LAB expedition, described as 'demanding' and 'dangerous,' will serve as a test of the yacht's design ingenuity and resilience, specifically the Innovation Yachts Open60AAL model. This innovative sailing design aims to demonstrate concepts for building yachts that are fully recyclable and sustainable, while respecting the environment, all while expanding the boundaries of quality, safety, and functionality.

Sedlachek will use a unique Open60 model made from composite materials that are fully recyclable and eco-friendly. The vessel will be powered and supplied exclusively by renewable energy from wind, tides, and sun.

Round-the-World Route

The voyage will encompass the entire globe. Sedlachek will head west from the British Isles into the Arctic, rounding Spitsbergen at 80° north latitude. Then, heading south, he will cross the vast Atlantic Ocean and reach the unpredictable waters surrounding Antarctica. After rounding the notorious Cape Horn, he will head back north towards his starting point in France, completing a difficult expedition that will test his mental and physical capabilities.

Personal History and Motivation

Sedlachek's path to this grand challenge is linked to personal transformation. Born on January 27, 1962, in Vienna, he initially followed a traditional career after graduating, working as a tram driver in his hometown. However, the routine of public service did not satisfy his spirit of adventure. In 1994, his life changed when he discovered sailing. Sedlachek decided to abandon ordinary life and dedicate himself entirely to the sport, which he now considers not just a hobby, but his profession.

As the departure date approaches, tension is mounting. The global sailing community is following Sedlachek not only for his attempt to set a new world record in solo sailing but also to witness the pioneering exploration of sustainable practices in yachting, which could influence the future of maritime adventures.
