SBI Funds Management shares debuted on the stock market with a relatively modest premium, despite expectations. Before listing, the company's shares traded in the 'grey market' with a premium exceeding 16%, but upon exchange debut, the premium was only 7%.
SBI Funds Management shares began trading on NSE at a price of 613.30 rupees per share, which is 6.85% higher than the IPO price of 574 rupees. On BSE, the same shares appeared for sale at 610 rupees per unit. Despite a calm listing start, several brokerage firms have begun highlighting SBI Funds Management's operations and are forecasting substantial growth for these shares.
Due to its strong network and market leader status, some brokers predict a 30% rise in the shares. Analysts at Emkey believe that three key factors contribute to the company's positive momentum. These factors include the SBI brand and distribution, low penetration of SBI Mutual Fund within SBI Bank itself, and changes in investments such as equity and options investments. Economies of scale and constant asset changes are expected to support revenue, which should lead to an increase in the average annual EBITDA growth rate of 17% during the fiscal years 2026 to 2029.
Brokers advise buying the shares, noting that the middle class is increasingly adopting mutual funds as a primary investment tool amid changing Indian savings and investment needs. It is asserted that SBI AMC has the potential to manage every Indian's assets, similar to how its parent company became the 'bank for every Indian'. Based on this, brokers have assigned SBI AMC a 'Buy' rating and set a target price of 750 rupees.
The SBI Funds Management IPO was open for subscription from July 14 to July 16 and was sold at a price ranging from 545 to 574 rupees per share, with a lot size of 26 shares. The company raised a total of 9,813 crore rupees through the initial public offering, which was an Offer for Sale (OFS) of up to 170,956,631 shares belonging to State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi.
SBI Funds is the largest asset management company in India, with a QAAUM mutual fund volume of 12.6 lakh crore rupees and a market share of 15.1%. The company holds leading positions in both active and passive strategies. According to Equirus Securities, SBI is well-positioned to leverage opportunities in the Indian financial sector. From 2021 to June 2026, its QAAUM assets grew by a 33% CAGR, and its market share increased from 10.2% to 12.7%.
