The interest rate for the July to September quarter has been set at 8.20 percent, meaning that this year the scheme will yield 8.20 percent interest. The minimum deposit in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in one financial year is ₹250, while the maximum limit is ₹1.50 lakh. Investors can deposit a maximum of ₹1.50 lakh in a year either as a lump sum or in installments, or they can also invest monthly. The maturity is completed until the age of 21 from the date of account opening, even if the 15-year period is completed.
If a person starts investing ₹1.5 lakh at the time of their daughter's birth, they will receive a total of ₹72 lakh by maturity, i.e., at the age of 21, out of which ₹50 lakh will be earned only from interest. For example, if an annual deposit of ₹1,50,000 is made and deposited for 15 years, the daughter will receive a total of ₹71,82,119 at the age of 21. In this scenario, the earnings from interest will be ₹49,32,119, which is close to the target of 50 lakh rupees.
