Protests against irregularities in the NEET exam were not limited to Delhi; on Monday, they also took place in Mumbai, where people took to the streets in support of the Cokeruch Janata Party (CJP).
Activist Arrest
During the demonstration, police detained activist and political figure Fahad Ahmad. Svara Bhaskar expressed her dissatisfaction with this arrest on social media by posting a video.
Arrest Footage
Svara Bhaskar shared a video on Instagram showing Mumbai police grabbing Fahad by the collar and taking him away in a police van during the protest. The clip can be heard with Fahad asking the police officers why he is being arrested. It is reported that this video was filmed around 4:30 PM.
Svara Bhaskar's Comments
By sharing the video, Svara stated that Fahad and other demonstrators were stopped at the Mahim police station. In the caption, she wrote: 'This is Indian democracy. Shameful circumstances.' She specified that the Mumbai police detained Fahad and other protesters on July 20, 2026, at 4:30 PM at Chaitiyabhoomi and transported them to the Mahim police station.
Public Reaction
Fahad's video went viral on social media, and his fans are demanding that the police release him. Furthermore, Svara published another video where Fahad is inside police transport commenting on the situation on site. Svara wrote that she received this video from @fahadzirarahmad on July 20 at 4:30 PM and that he asked her to publish it. She added that the Mumbai police are attacking peaceful demonstrators at Chaitiyabhoomi and called on everyone who wishes to support to come to Chaitiyabhoomi peacefully and in large numbers.
