Signs of monsoon activity resuming are being observed in Rajasthan. The meteorological service has issued a yellow warning for rain in 24 districts of the state, which will be in effect for the next three days. A warning for strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes has also been issued in several places during this period.
According to the meteorological service, monsoon winds coming from the Bay of Bengal are activating in the eastern and northeastern parts of Rajasthan, which will lead to an increase in precipitation activity.
Over the past 24 hours, cloudiness was observed in Junhundhun, Sikri, Alwar, Kotputli-Bahror, Karauli, Bundi, and Ajmer. Todabhim, which is in the Karauli district, recorded the highest amount of precipitation—33 mm.
While the temperature exceeded 41 degrees Celsius in three districts of the Bikaner district on Sunday, Churu became the hottest district in the state, where the maximum temperature reached 41.6 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Dobok, located in Udaipur, was 25.2 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological service predicts that the intensity of rainfall will increase in the districts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, and the Bikaner district from July 21 to July 22, with heavy precipitation possible in some areas.
Maharashtra has been severely affected by heavy rains. The rainfall over the past seven days has led to serious difficulties in Mumbai. Meteorologists have warned of possible heavy rain in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
A major landslide incident occurred in Pune amid continuous heavy rains. In the Maval area, part of the mountain shifted and collapsed onto a house, resulting in the deaths of three family members under the debris. Police, administration, and rescue teams arrived at the scene, and the collapse was cleared after several hours of work. The administration urged residents to remain vigilant in landslide-prone zones and move to safe places if necessary.
In the Nashik district, heavy rains caused many areas of the city to flood. Streets were covered with water, creating significant difficulties for people to move around. Severe flooding is also observed in the area of the Shri Trimbakeshwar temple. Streets and low-lying areas around the temple are flooded. The administration advised residents to remain vigilant.
Due to flooding, it has become difficult for people in many parts of the city to leave their homes. Both land and rail transport have been severely affected. Trees fell in several places due to heavy rain and stormy winds. According to the BMC, the transport system has been disrupted due to the fall of over 500 trees in the last 24 hours.
Life in Mumbai has been seriously disrupted due to constant heavy rains and hurricane-force winds. The death toll from this natural disaster has reached thirteen in the last four days. In addition to rain problems, warnings have been issued across various districts of Maharashtra regarding strong winds combined with heavy precipitation. Meteorologists predict heavy rain in Mumbai and its surroundings on July 7.
