During archaeological excavations in Libya, an ancient structure—a hippodrome—was found. These remains were discovered in Apollonia Kyrene, located in the small town of Susa.

A French archaeological mission, led by Vincent Michel from the University of Poitiers, conducted the excavations. Researchers reported that this is the first discovery of a hippodrome in all of Cyrenaica. Various events took place in this area, including races, chariot races, and other sporting and public events.
