It was emphasized that air navigation operations were not affected, as flights and air traffic continued in the usual manner.
The armed forces of Bahrain stated on the same day that Iran continues its systematic aggression through brutal attacks on the civilian population of Bahrain, but they also reported that this 'cunning Iranian air attack' was repelled.
The military did not specify the number of intercepted missiles or drones, and Iran has not yet confirmed authorship of the attack.
In a statement published on social media, Bahraini military officials indicated that all their weapons and units are at maximum readiness and combat readiness to protect the Kingdom. Furthermore, they urged the population to stay away from any 'suspicious objects' that might fall onto the country's territory.
The Bahraini army stated that the intentional use of missiles and drones against civilian targets and private property is a gross violation of international law. It was also noted that security forces demonstrated 'advanced combat capabilities and enhanced surveillance' while repelling the attack.
The United States has been conducting attacks against Iran for several days, citing violations of the memorandum of understanding. These accusations have been rejected by Tehran, which, in turn, condemned ceasefire violations and responded with attacks on US interests in the region, heightening concerns about the collapse of peace negotiations.
Bahrain and Kuwait issued statements denouncing recent drone attacks, which are attributed to Iran.
Kuwait's military institution reported through a morning statement that the country's air defenses were facing hostile drone attacks resulting from Iranian aggression. The Army General Staff added that any sounds of explosions heard would be the result of these enemy attacks being intercepted by anti-aircraft defense systems, asking the Kuwaiti population to follow the disseminated safety guidelines.
Concurrently, the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain alerted on social media that alarms had been triggered three times since the early hours of the morning. Authorities requested that citizens and residents remain calm, proceed to the nearest shelter, and follow news only through official channels.
The U.S. Embassy in Manama had released a statement on Sunday, indicating it possessed information suggesting that Iran might attempt to attack unspecified locations in the center of the capital of Bahrain. The United States conducted, during Sunday night and the following early morning, the ninth attack against Iranian military and civilian targets since the signing of the ceasefire memorandum of understanding on June 17.
According to Iranian media, the port city of Bushehr, located in the southwest and housing Iran's only operational civilian nuclear power plant, was targeted by new American attacks this morning. The city governor, Mohammad Mozaffari, cited by the official agency IRNA, declared that several points in Bushehr were hit by projectiles launched by American adversaries.
The official Iranian agency also reported that there was at least one death and several injuries during the United States' nighttime attacks in northwestern Iran. Majid Farshi, responsible for crisis situations in East Azerbaijan province, cited by IRNA, stated that one person died as a martyr and others were injured in a terrorist and aggressive attack by the US in an area southwest of Tabriz.
