The Popsky District Court found Odilkhon Ismoilov guilty of illegally appropriating a large volume of property, as well as repeated and group forgery of documents.
According to a statement from the Supreme Court press service, Odilkhon Ismoilov, known by the name Odilkhon Kori and founder of the company 'Rayxon oilaviy milliy taomlari', was sentenced to eight years in prison.
The Popsky District Court for Criminal Cases found Odilkhon Ismoilov and six other defendants guilty of crimes related to property appropriation, falsification of official positions, as well as possession and forgery of documents.
The court concluded that the following acts were committed: illegal appropriation or embezzlement of a large amount of property belonging to another person, which was transferred by power of attorney or voluntarily; entering knowingly false information into official documents, forging or manufacturing fake documents; possessing or concealing important documents such as passports, ID cards, as well as stamps, seals, and forms; and repeatedly forging official documents, stamps, or forms in collusion with a group of persons.
The court sentenced Odilkhon Ismoilov to eight years of imprisonment. Taking into account the time he spent in custody, the actual term of the sentence was set at 7 years, 11 months, and 28 days. As for the other six defendants, they were sentenced to prison terms depending on the nature of their criminal actions. Furthermore, the court ordered the defendants to jointly compensate for the material damage caused by the crime.
A verdict was handed down in Namangan region against 49-year-old Odilkhon Ismailov, who previously held the position of Imam-Khatib in Tashkent. He was found guilty of committing a number of crimes, including theft, official misconduct, and document forgery.
The court sentenced Ismailov to eight years in prison. However, after accounting for the time he spent in custody, the final sentence was set at 7 years, 11 months, and 28 days. This information was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court.
The criminal proceedings took place in the Papsky District Court for Criminal Cases. In addition to Ismailov, six other individuals were present on the defendants' bench. All of them were found guilty of theft through embezzlement or misappropriation, official misconduct, illegal possession and concealment of documents, as well as creating, falsifying, and using forged papers. The other participants in the case were assigned various prison terms depending on their role in the criminal activity.
In addition to the punishment, the court ruled that the convicted individuals must compensate for the material damage caused jointly. It is worth noting that the criminal case against Ismailov was initiated in January of this year, after which he was detained. Investigative bodies indicated that the former religious figure is accused of economic crimes and document forgery.
Previously, Odilkhon Ismailov held leadership positions within the structure of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan. Since 2010, he worked as the deputy chief Imam-Khatib of Tashkent. Later, he headed the Shaikantakhur district as chief Imam-Khatib and served at the 'Sheikh Zayniddin' mosque. Subsequently, he worked at the 'Waqf' charitable foundation and served as Imam-Khatib at the 'Khuja Alambardor' mosque.
