Uzbekistan's Power Supply System Reaches New Record Load Level

The Ministry of Energy reported that the maximum load on Uzbekistan's Unified Power System reached 13.8 GW on the evening of July 19, 2026. This figure set a new record, exceeding the previous day's value by 100 MW.

Energy Consumption and Generation

Despite it being a weekend, daily electricity consumption amounted to 291.8 million kWh. This represents an increase of 19.2 million kWh, corresponding to a 7.04% rise compared to last summer's peak. Meanwhile, daily electricity generation also remained high, reaching 295.4 million kWh.

The largest outage occurred in the Fergana region in the evening, where a power grid accident cut off electricity to approximately 13,000 consumers in Kokand, as well as in the districts of Furkat, Dangar, Uchkuprik, and Uzbekistan. Full restoration of power supply took place on the night of July 20, 2026, after the fault was fixed.

Local Failures in the Capital

Later, a failure at one of Tashkent's substations resulted in about 7,000 consumers in the Shaikantakur and Almazar districts losing power; supply was restored shortly after midnight.

Additionally, localized emergency outages were recorded during the evening and night in the Mirzo-Ulubek, Sergeli, Almazar, Uchtepa, Yakkasaray, and Mirabad districts of the capital. Temporary power supply interruptions were observed in parts of the Yashnabad, Yunusabad, and Chilanzar districts of Tashkent, as well as in the Zangiata districts and Tashkent region.

Operation of Energy Services

According to the Ministry of Energy data, operational groups of energy complex enterprises continue to work in heightened mode to ensure reliable energy supply during peak load periods.

Uzbekistan sets record for electricity consumption and generation

The Ministry of Energy reported that a historical maximum in the level of electricity consumption and generation was recorded in Uzbekistan's unified energy system on July 20 at 17:22.

Energy System Indicators

According to the ministry's data, national electricity consumption reached 14 GW, while the generation volume amounted to 14.2 GW. These figures, the ministry claims, are the highest ever registered in the history of the country's energy sector.

Future Forecasts

The Ministry of Energy does not rule out the possibility of further exceeding these record levels. According to the agency's forecasts, by the end of the day, electricity consumption and generation volumes may reach new historical highs again.

Uzbekistan sets new electricity consumption record in summer

Uzbekistan's unified energy system recorded a new summer record for daily electricity consumption on July 17, 2026.

Consumption and Energy Generation

According to the Ministry of Energy data, daily electricity consumption reached 293.4 million kWh. This figure exceeded last year's previous summer maximum by 20.8 million kWh, which is 7.6%.

The country also set a new record for daily electricity generation. Power plants produced 296.1 million kWh on July 17, surpassing the previous record of 295.4 million kWh, which was set the day before, on July 16, by 0.7 million kWh, or 0.24%.

Total Output and Balance

Including electricity generated by small solar photovoltaic stations, the total output amounted to 305 million kWh. This exceeded daily consumption by 11.6 million kWh and was 9.6 million kWh, or 3.2%, higher than the output of the previous day.

Monitoring and Recommendations

The Ministry of Energy reported that dispatch services are conducting round-the-clock monitoring of the load on the electrical grid, as well as the condition of power lines and transformer equipment. If necessary, operators redistribute network loads and take operational measures to prevent overloads, equipment overheating, technical failures, and large-scale power outages.

Furthermore, the ministry strongly urged consumers to use electricity economically and, if possible, limit the use of household appliances that are not vital to reduce the load on the energy system and minimize the risk of emergency shutdowns.

Summer electricity consumption record set due to high temperatures

A new record for electricity consumption during the summer period has been set in the energy system. A significant rise in temperature across the country led to a sharp increase in demand for electrical energy.

New Consumption Record

On July 13, republic-wide electricity consumption reached 278.6 million kWh, setting a new record for the summer season. This was reported by Dildora Khoshimova, head of the Information Service of the Ministry of Energy.

On the same day, power plants generated a total of 281.5 million kWh of electricity. Despite the high level of consumption, consumers were supplied with uninterrupted electricity.

Comparison with Previous Figures

Electricity consumption in the republic on July 13 was 278.6 million kWh, exceeding the highest figure from the previous summer season by 6 million kWh, or 2.2 percent. The previous record was set on July 18, 2025, when 272.6 million kWh was consumed in a day.

Response and Warnings

It is expected that new records for electricity consumption and load on the energy system may be set soon due to further increases in air temperature. In this regard, energy enterprises have been switched to an enhanced operating mode.

Special repair teams are working in the regions on duty to eliminate possible failures in the power grids as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, it is emphasized that short-term power outages may occur in some areas due to technical malfunctions in the networks.

Call for Conservation

Dildora Khoshimova called on citizens to use electricity reasonably and sparingly. She noted that reducing the load on the system is possible by turning off unnecessary household appliances, especially during peak hours of electricity network load. This will help maintain the stability of the power supply, ensure reliable system operation, and prevent possible outages.
