Uzbekistan Banking Supervision Committee Fines 21 Banks in June

The Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan held seven meetings in June 2026, reviewing 34 issues and making corresponding decisions.

Registration and Licensing

The majority of the agenda, comprising 22 issues, was dedicated to registration and licensing. The Committee registered amendments to the charters of six credit institutions, reviewed the issuance of three qualification certificates for auditors conducting bank audits, and also handled the registration of microfinance organizations and the licensing of payment organizations based on four applications.

Furthermore, five approvals for the acquisition of shares in the charter capital of credit institutions were considered, along with the confirmation of four candidates for positions on the supervisory boards, management boards of commercial banks, and other key positions.

Financial Condition of Organizations

Another 12 agenda items focused on studying the financial condition of credit and payment organizations. The Committee analyzed compliance with the directives of the Central Bank and prudential standards, the results of inspections of banks and non-bank credit institutions, as well as the distribution of undistributed profits.

Sanctions and Fines

After reviewing the materials, 23 banks received warnings regarding the possible application of coercive measures and sanctions for non-compliance with prudential standards and failure to meet legislative requirements. Additionally, fines were imposed on 21 banks, one microfinance organization, and one payment organization for violating legal norms, as well as for deficiencies identified during inspections and assessments.
