The main factor that increased FIFA's revenue was the expansion of the number of participating teams from 32 to 48. This change led to 104 matches being played instead of the previous 64, which in turn ensured greater demand for tickets, broadcasts, and betting. This decision was developed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Some experts suggest that the next World Cup in 2030 might host another 64 countries, making up one-third of all football teams, to mark the centenary of the event and guarantee maximum profit for FIFA.
