Mbappé's Achievements in the Tournament
The French forward scored ten goals, making him the first player in history to finish a tournament as the top scorer in two consecutive World Cups, following the 2022 and 2026 tournaments. Furthermore, Mbappé became the first player since 1970 to score ten goals in a single World Cup. This record for goals in one tournament was previously set by Gerd Müller in 1970. However, the overall record for goals at the World Cup belongs to Just Fontaine of France, who scored 13 goals in the 1958 tournament.
Awards for Other Players
Argentina captain Lionel Messi received the Silver Boot, scoring eight goals. Jude Bellingham of England and Erling Haaland of Norway shared the Bronze Boot, each scoring seven goals. Spain captain Rodri was named the tournament's best player and received the Golden Ball after Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final.

Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Spanish defender Pau Cubarsí, who was 19 years old at the time of the tournament, was awarded the best young player of the tournament.
