The Three Borders Landmark, one of the most visited places in Foz do Iguaçu, will undergo a major transformation this year. With a financial injection of R$ 40 million, the area near the small obelisk marking Brazilian territory will be revitalized, including the creation of a viewpoint that will also give new life to the Espaço das Américas, which was previously deactivated.
Located at the meeting point of the Paraná and Iguaçu rivers, the tourist attraction recorded a record of half a million visitors in the previous year alone. The new facilities aim to consolidate the location on the itinerary of tourists seeking experiences beyond Iguaçu National Park and its famous waterfalls.
Under the management of Grupo Cataratas, the concessionaire since 2015, the renovation works include more than just the obelisk and the nightly cultural performances. The project foresees the addition of viewpoints, exhibition galleries, and spaces dedicated to gastronomy, in addition to panoramic elevators that will offer an unprecedented perspective of the rivers delimiting Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
A key focus of the expectation is the recovery of Espaço das Américas, the former convention center located by the water that remained abandoned for many years. This place will be renamed Espaço Gastronômico das Américas and aims to become a new meeting and stay point for visitors, with a planned reopening for mid-December.
The name Three Borders Landmark reflects the territorial demarcation of early Brazil in a symbolic area of South America. At the triple border, where the rivers meet, each bank represents a nationality. Small obelisks were erected on the Brazilian, Paraguayan, and Argentine banks at the beginning of the 20th century to signal the sovereignty of each territory.
Over time, the location has become a point of interest for those who wish to learn about the geography and cultural exchange of this border zone. In 1997, taking advantage of the notoriety of the border, the Paraná government inaugurated Espaço das Américas, a structure at the corner of the rivers intended to host conventions and cultural events, focusing on Mercosur meetings. However, the structure did not achieve its objectives and ended up being abandoned. Grupo Cataratas' plan aims to reverse this situation. The Three Borders Landmark is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with tickets available online starting from R$ 73.50, while residents of Foz do Iguaçu have free access upon proof of residence.
Casa Raízes, a project developed by Studio Gontijo Arquitetura, is located atop a cliff in Trancoso, situated in the southern region of Bahia.
The concept of the residence was shaped by a deep connection with the local environment. The land offers a constant view of both the ocean and the horizon, presenting two crucial elements for the development of the project: the dense presence of the Atlantic Forest and easy proximity to the sea.
Access to the beach is via a private trail that winds through the native vegetation, leading directly to Itapororoca Beach. In addition to the advantageous location of the lot, the proximity to another property belonging to the same family also significantly influenced the decision to choose this location.
