The process of cargo clearance has been organized at Tashkent International Airport using a 'single window' principle, allowing most necessary procedures to be completed in one location. If all required documents are available, the registration of both export and import cargo usually takes up to two hours.
The clearance process begins via an electronic queue. The client approaches a self-service terminal, selects the desired service—be it export, import, cash handling, or cargo information request—and receives a numbered ticket. The call is then displayed on an electronic board in the waiting area.
Due to the placement of customs and phytosanitary services on the ground floor of the administrative building, visitors no longer need to move between different buildings as was previously the case. Cargo acceptance and release operate around the clock.
According to Zokhid Saidakhmedov, registering an export cargo takes up to two hours if it is properly packed and all documentation is prepared in advance. The clearance time for import cargo is comparable, but it heavily depends on how quickly the consignee collects the goods after customs control is complete.
Agricultural products, as well as textiles and personal belongings, form the basis of export supplies. Nevertheless, certain types of cargo, such as plants, chemical compounds, and medicines, require more thorough inspection and additional permits from state bodies, including the sanitary-epidemiological service, which increases the clearance time.
The terminal pays close attention to handling dangerous goods, which are classified into nine classes, including explosive, toxic, corrosive, and flammable substances. Specific rules for handling, storage, and transportation have been established for each category. Only employees holding the appropriate certificate and having undergone specialized training may handle such goods, and this requirement applies to both warehouse workers and drivers transporting goods to aircraft.
Due to the increase in cargo processing volumes, the staff of loaders at the terminal has been expanded to ensure continuous warehouse operation. Terminal representatives confirmed that cases of product damage in the commercial warehouse have not been recorded because the goods here are not intended for long-term storage.
It was also clarified that containers and metal pallets used in air transport are the property of the airlines, not the terminal itself. The type and owner of these elements are identified by special markings: the letter code denotes the type, and subsequent symbols indicate the registration number and the owning airline.
Previously, it was reported that work had begun to expand the warehouse infrastructure at the cargo terminal of Tashkent International Airport after the May rains, when some cargo was temporarily left outdoors. Currently, additional covered shelters are being built, and security measures are being strengthened while the number of personnel is increasing.
The administration of the Tashkent Metro has announced a temporary change in the train schedule on the elevated ring line. From July 17 to July 19, trains will operate on a reduced schedule, running from 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
This change is due to the need to conduct an additional inspection of the technical condition of the stations. Over three days, specialists will inspect the structural and technical condition of fourteen stations belonging to the elevated ring line.
According to metro representatives, the preventive measures are aimed at increasing the reliability of the entire infrastructure. Furthermore, they are intended to conduct another in-depth analysis of the current state of the system and ensure safer and more comfortable conditions for passengers.
Immediately before the reduction in schedule began, on July 16, part of the roof structure collapsed at 'Turon' station on the elevated line. Two passengers sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident. A special commission was formed to clarify all circumstances of what happened.
