General Motors confirmed the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Equinox EV in the Brazilian market. The last units of this all-electric SUV have been sold, and there are currently no plans to import new batches, ending the model's presence in the country less than two years after its launch.
New Strategy from the Manufacturer
In an official statement, the automaker informed that its future strategy for electric vehicles will focus on other models available in its catalog. GM claims that Chevrolet holds a leading position in the electric SUV segment in Brazil, citing the Spark EUV among entry-level compacts, the Captiva EV in the mid-segment, and the Blazer EV in the large and premium category. This strategic change, according to the company, reflects both the evolution of demand for more affordable vehicles and the preferences shown by the Brazilian consumer.
Equinox EV Performance and Price
The analysis suggests that the Equinox EV, which had a premium positioning and was imported, failed to find its desired audience. It was launched in October 2024 with a suggested price of R$ 419,990, a value that quickly increased to R$ 441,190. Due to significantly below-expected sales, Chevrolet implemented a readjustment of R$ 90,200 in August 2025, reducing the cost to R$ 349,990, a price that was maintained until stock depletion.
Sales Data and Specifications
Sales data corroborates this decision. Up to the period of 2025, the Equinox EV had registered only 28 registrations, according to data provided by the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE). Before the discount, the electric vehicle's value exceeded that of the Blazer EV, which harmed its attractiveness in a segment where brand status is an important factor for the buyer. Even after the price promotion, the situation did not change drastically, registering the sale of only 294 units of the utility vehicle between August 2025 and the previous month.
Technical Features of the Model
The version intended for Brazil was equipped with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, generating 292 hp and 46 kgfm of torque. Its performance allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, with the maximum speed electronically limited to 187 km/h. The certified range reached 443 km under the Inmetro standard, surpassing competitors such as the Volvo C40 and BMW iX1.
Dimensions and Technology
With medium-to-large dimensions, the SUV presented a length of 4.84 m, a width of 1.95 m, and a height of 1.65 m, with a wheelbase of 2.95 m and a trunk capacity of 441 liters. Standard features included a panoramic sunroof with electric operation, a dual-zone digital air conditioning system, electrically adjustable driver's seats, 19-inch wheels, and an electrically opening tailgate.
In terms of technology, the vehicle featured a 17.7-inch multimedia center integrated with Google (Google built-in) and navigation specific to electric vehicles, in addition to native Wi-Fi connectivity, OnStar services, and integration with the myChevrolet application. It is worth noting that the combustion engine version of the Equinox remains available for sale in the country.
