The popular Metro FM radio segment 'Ask A Man', previously broadcast as part of the Breakaway program with Hutso Telede, is now moving to television and will be featured on the S3 channel.
Concept of the New Show
This long-running radio format, where Somizi Mhlongo and Naked DJ discuss listeners' relationship problems, will gain wider reach through its television adaptation. While the core format will remain a discussion of real-life situations, the TV version will feature anonymous stories submitted by residents of South Africa.
Topics and Goals of the Project
Experts and hosts will analyze a wide range of topics, including situationships, family dynamics, breakups, and marital difficulties. According to SABC, the new program aims to develop the discussions that made the Metro FM segment popular, giving viewers the opportunity to watch these conversations on screen.
Dichaba Phalatshe, SABC's video entertainment content marketing manager, noted that 'we believe the strongest conversations start with real people and real experiences. 'Ask A Man' has already earned the audience's trust on Metro FM by creating a space for honest dialogue about relationships and life's challenges.'
Significance for the Station
Phalatshe added that translating the format to television will allow for deeper conversations and promote empathy through shared experiences. Siyanda Fikelefi, Metro FM's talent manager, emphasized that over the years, the segment has gone beyond regular radio broadcasting. He stated that 'Metro FM has provided a platform for candid discussions about dating, heartbreak, marriage, and family for years. 'Ask A Man' has become more than just a segment; it has become a trusted relationship with our audience.'
The station confirmed that the television version will use anonymous stories from the public, but details regarding the hosts and air date are still awaited.
