A recent trip by a group of young footballers from Khayelitsha to Cape Town became more than just sightseeing or playing football for them. In partnership with the Pitso Mosimane Youth Football (PMYF) program, four local teams received new sets of equipment and necessary training gear before participating in the Hisense Cup of the Future tournament. A total of 68 young footballers in Cape Town benefited from this initiative, which aims to support youth development both on and off the field.
The program plans to expand to Johannesburg, where another 16 teams, comprising 272 players, will receive football kits and equipment. Luna Northe, Deputy General Manager of Hisense South Africa, noted that the campaign is aimed at creating opportunities for youth to believe in themselves. She stated: 'Life, like football, is about what you do with the opportunities you are given, and believing that your future is bigger than your current circumstances.'
