Due to video materials circulating on social networks and some media outlets, a wide discussion has arisen regarding the risk of flooding in the 'Tourist Village' area, located in the Yangikurgon district of Namangan region.
Inspection of the Situation
A team from the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan — UzA arrived at the scene to directly study the prevailing situation. During the inspection, drainage canals, water diversion structures, and the system for directing floodwaters in this area were examined.
Discussion with Local Residents
In addition, conversations were held with local residents, responsible structures, and industry specialists. Experts emphasized that due to the area's location at the foot of the mountains, there is a possibility of flash floods during heavy rains.
Identified Problems and Measures
It was noted that some sections have illegal constructions on floodplain banks and within floodwater channels, which leads to the silting up of waterways. To reduce the threat, work is being carried out to clean the waterways, maintain hydraulic structures, and implement preventive measures.
Public Suggestions and Conclusions
During observations, local residents also expressed their opinions and suggestions. In particular, they insisted on the need to strengthen security measures and conduct regular preventive work in certain zones. The inspection showed that the approach to the problem does not provide a complete picture on one hand, as appropriate steps are being taken to prevent natural threats in addition to them.
The National Information Agency of Uzbekistan continues to cover current issues of public interest by being on site, guided by the principles of fact and objectivity.
