Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have reached an agreement to expand air links between the two states.
During a working trip to Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, held talks with the management of Asman Airlines and Aero Nomad Airlines. Issues discussed included developing new air routes, creating joint tourism products, and increasing bilateral tourist flow.
One concrete result of the meetings was an agreement with Aero Nomad Airlines to start regular direct flights on the Bishkek–Tashkent–Bishkek route, which will begin operating on August 23. This service will run twice a week. Participants noted that the new route is intended to strengthen business and tourism ties between the countries and increase passenger traffic.
During discussions with the management of Asman Airlines, the parties also considered the possibility of launching regular flights from Bishkek and Osh to Tashkent, as well as flights to other cities in Uzbekistan with high market demand. It was decided to jointly assess market needs and passenger flow to determine the most promising directions.
Participants emphasized that favorable conditions for expanding air services are created by the geographical proximity of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the rich historical and cultural heritage of both countries, and the growing interest of international tourists in combined routes across Central Asia. Proposed destinations include connections between Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, and Andijan with Bishkek, Osh, and Issyk-Kul.
Representatives of Kyrgyz airlines were also provided with information about state support measures that Uzbekistan offers to foreign airlines when launching new international routes. The parties also agreed to strengthen interaction with the tourism industry, expand cooperation with Kyrgyz tour operators, and jointly promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and the new air routes between the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has launched a monthly program called 'Current Visa' with the aim of increasing international travel opportunities for the country's citizens.
This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the tasks defined in the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy, which was approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During this month, diplomatic missions and consular offices of Uzbekistan abroad will intensify negotiations with foreign partners.
The main areas of work include expanding the visa-free regime, simplifying visa procedures, and introducing modern visa issuance mechanisms. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the main task is to conclude agreements on visa-free movement for Uzbek citizens, increase the use of electronic visas, and develop other simplified entry procedures.
The embassy stated that this initiative is designed to create more favorable conditions for citizens when traveling abroad, expand opportunities for international mobility, and support the country's ongoing open and active foreign policy.
