Several important decisions were made at the meeting of the Bihar government cabinet, chaired by Samrat Chaudhary. A total of 22 agenda items were approved, including significant proposals concerning healthcare, transport, and fisheries.
Expansion of the AIIMS Medical Complex
The cabinet granted administrative permission to acquire a land parcel of 26.76 hectares in Bhusaula village, Danapur district, for the expansion of AIIMS located in Patna. This initiative is estimated to cost approximately 348.90 crore rupees. The government believes that the expansion of AIIMS Patna will allow for an increased range of super-specialty medical services, providing patients with more modern and high-quality medical opportunities within one complex, while also accelerating the development of medical education and scientific research, thereby strengthening the state's healthcare system.
Development of Fisheries and Infrastructure
Furthermore, the cabinet adopted a major decision aimed at stimulating the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The creation of the Bihar Aquaculture Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited (BAIDCL) was approved. According to the government statement, the establishment of BAIDCL will promote the development of modern fishery infrastructure, which in turn will encourage investment in this area, create new jobs, and help increase the income of fish farmers.
Strengthening the Regional Transport System
An important decision aimed at strengthening the state's transport system was the approval to prepare an Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on four key corridors of the state. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) was assigned to carry out this work. It is planned that the proposed RRTS corridors will be developed between Patna, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Arrah, and Gaya. These decisions by the Bihar cabinet are viewed as an important step towards expanding medical services, strengthening the transport network, and accelerating the development of the fisheries sector in the state.
