An extraordinary conference of the Uzbekistan Professional Boxing Federation took place in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Sport in the 'Olympic City'.
Participants and Goals of the Event
The event was attended by the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Adham Ikromov, members of the Executive Committee of the Uzbekistan Professional Boxing Federation, the federation's leadership, conference delegates, industry specialists, sports public, as well as representatives of the mass media.
Minister of Sport A. Ikromov opened the conference and emphasized that the development of professional boxing in the country and increasing competitiveness on the international arena are among the most important tasks of our time.
Agenda and Results
During the conference, a report on the federation's activities for the period 2025–2026 was presented. Issues regarding changes to the composition of the federation's leadership were also discussed, including the re-election of the federation's president and the renewal of the Executive Committee's composition. As a result of the meeting, Umid Yoqubov was elected to the post of federation president.
Achievements of Uzbek Boxers
It was noted that Uzbek boxers have achieved significant success: Isroil Madrimov has secured a spot in the top ten in the WBA and WBO middleweight categories. Furthermore, high positions in world rankings are held by boxers such as Murodjon Ahmadaliev, Shahram Giyosov, Bahodir Jalolov, Lazizbek Mullajonov, Nurislam Ismoilov, Bektemir Melikquziev, Hasangboy Dusmatov, and Otabek Kholmatov.
Development of Boxing in the Country
The Federation also stated that during this period, in cooperation with relevant ministries and departments, 39 major professional boxing events were organized in the country, and consistent steps are being taken to develop women's boxing.
