Today, July 16, boxing competitions will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, where the Asian champions among men in the U19 and U23 age categories will be determined. The Uzbekistan national team, consisting of 14 glove masters, has arrived at these two age groups.
The team's presence is a vivid testament that the victorious path of the Uzbek boxing school continues, and a new generation of champions is being formed in the country.
In the U19 category, matches are scheduled between pairs such as Utkirbek Norqosimov versus Edil Askanbay (Kazakhstan) in the under 50 kg class, and Elyor Rustamov versus Aditya (India) in the under 55 kg class. Also in this group, Muhammadrizo Ukimov will fight Siva Chainarong (Thailand) in the under 60 kg class, Sukhrob Rahmatullaev against Dongjin Kim (South Korea) in the under 75 kg class, Abror Sharipov against Timur Taibekov (Kazakhstan) in the under 80 kg class, Sardorbek Bahromkhojaev against Ruslan Akhmetov (Kazakhstan) in the under 85 kg class, Asadbek Sultanboev against Shubham Rajput (India) in the under 90 kg class, and Islom Salikhov against Vladislav Samojonov (Kazakhstan) in the over 90 kg class.
In the U23 category, matches are planned: Ilhomjon Irgashev versus Vanshaj (India) in the under 65 kg class, Abdulloh Madaminov versus Nurbek Mursal (Kazakhstan) in the under 70 kg class, Fazliddin Erkinboev versus Onur Seilhan (Kazakhstan) in the under 80 kg class, Norbek Abdullaev versus Mukataev (Kazakhstan) in the under 85 kg class, Samir Sobirov versus Ibragim Betaev (Kazakhstan) in the under 90 kg class, and Ozodbek Aliyev versus Mirzikir Koshaliyev (Kyrgyzstan) in the over 90 kg class.
According to the presented pairs, representatives of the Uzbekistan national team will participate in 8 boxing matches in the U19 age group and 6 matches among U23 athletes. It should be noted that recently, final matches were held in the U23 women's category. In them, the Uzbekistan team took first place overall, winning 6 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals across 10 weight categories. Kazakhstan came in second place, and India came in third. Among the finalists, Gulsewar Ganieva, Khumorabonu Mamazhonova, Mushtariybon Ibrohimjonova, Sevinch Khuramova, Rukhshona Parpiyeva, and Sobirakhon Shahobiddinova were named gold medalists; Raihona Qurbanboeva—silver; and Uzukzamol Yunusova and Oisha Toirova—bronze.
Today, July 16, junior judo competitions are starting in Amman, the capital of Jordan, as part of the Asian Championship.
On the first day of the tournament, the most talented young judokas from twenty countries will take part. The fighting will take place in eight weight categories.
In the men's categories (-50, -55, -60, -66 kg) and women's categories (-40, -44, -48, -52 kg), young judokas, including Akbar Sharipov, Ma'murjon Abduvahobov, Bobur Yusupov, Davlatbek Ahrorov, Abubakr Sattorov, Akromjon Karimov, Irodu Sirojiddinov, Alina Kolyucheva, Dilafruz Boltaboyeva, Charos Hikmatov, Mohinur Ollaberganov, and Kumushbibi Ergashev, are vying for prize places in their respective weight groups.

The list of participants for the finals of the Asian Boxing Championship in the U19 and U23 age categories in Jakarta, Indonesia, has been announced following the semi-finals.
Twenty-seven athletes from the national team of Uzbekistan have qualified for the upcoming fights for the title of Asian Champion in the U19 and U23 categories.
Overall, the Kazakhstan national team ranked second among the national teams, securing a spot in the final with twenty-two participants. Other teams advancing to the next stages include India (18), Japan (4), South Korea (2), Kyrgyzstan (2), and Indonesia (2). Additionally, teams from Thailand, Taiwan, and Mongolia sent one representative each.
According to the championship program, today is designated as a day off for all participants. The finals of the Asian Boxing Championship in the women's U19 and U23 categories will take place tomorrow, while the men's final matches are scheduled for July 16.
An extraordinary conference of the Uzbekistan Professional Boxing Federation took place in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Sport in the 'Olympic City'.
The event was attended by the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Adham Ikromov, members of the Executive Committee of the Uzbekistan Professional Boxing Federation, the federation's leadership, conference delegates, industry specialists, sports public, as well as representatives of the mass media.
Minister of Sport A. Ikromov opened the conference and emphasized that the development of professional boxing in the country and increasing competitiveness on the international arena are among the most important tasks of our time.
During the conference, a report on the federation's activities for the period 2025–2026 was presented. Issues regarding changes to the composition of the federation's leadership were also discussed, including the re-election of the federation's president and the renewal of the Executive Committee's composition. As a result of the meeting, Umid Yoqubov was elected to the post of federation president.
It was noted that Uzbek boxers have achieved significant success: Isroil Madrimov has secured a spot in the top ten in the WBA and WBO middleweight categories. Furthermore, high positions in world rankings are held by boxers such as Murodjon Ahmadaliev, Shahram Giyosov, Bahodir Jalolov, Lazizbek Mullajonov, Nurislam Ismoilov, Bektemir Melikquziev, Hasangboy Dusmatov, and Otabek Kholmatov.
The Federation also stated that during this period, in cooperation with relevant ministries and departments, 39 major professional boxing events were organized in the country, and consistent steps are being taken to develop women's boxing.
