Some parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced rain on Wednesday evening. Light and heavy precipitation helped alleviate the strain of the scorching summer heat.
Video footage published by the Storm Centre on the social network X demonstrated intense rainfall in the Al Ain, Salama, and Batin areas. The UAE National Meteorological Department issued orange and yellow warnings, informing residents about possible precipitation until 7:30 PM on Wednesday.
Previously, the NCM bulletin noted that the sky would be partly cloudy or overcast at times, and the formation of convective clouds in the east and south might be accompanied by rain.
The videos distributed by the Storm Centre captured children playing on rooftops in Al Ain. Other shots showed precipitation in Jebel Hafeet, Green Mubazzar, Shubat Al Ota, Shiab Al Ashkar, and Zaher, also located in Al Ain. Furthermore, the Storm Centre posted a video where the rain was accompanied by strong winds along the Al Ain-Dubai road near Al Haiyar.
For the upcoming Saturday, July 11, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) predicts clear or partly cloudy weather in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is favorable for residents planning to spend the weekend.
Increased humidity is expected in some coastal areas of the country during Sunday night and morning. The wind will be light to moderate, blowing from southwest to northwest, occasionally strengthening from the east, at a speed of 10–25 km/h, reaching 40 km/h.
The sea in the Arabian Gulf will be slight to moderate, and in the Gulf of Oman—slight.
Earlier, on Friday, the highest temperature recorded in the UAE was 47.8°C, registered in Hamim, Al Dhafra area, at 15:45 UAE time. According to the NCM forecast for Saturday, the following maximum temperatures are expected in various cities:
Dubai: 39°C
Abu Dhabi: 41°C
Ras Al Khaimah: 42°C
Fujairah: 41°C
Al Ain: 44°C
Suwaiqnah: 45°C
According to the bulletin from the National Center of Meteorology, clear or partly cloudy weather is expected in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, July 5. Low clouds may appear over the eastern coast.
The air temperature in Abu Dhabi will fluctuate between 31°C and 40°C. Dubai is forecast to have a range of 33°C to 41°C, while Sharjah's temperature will be between 32°C and 40°C.
A light to moderate southwesterly or northwesterly wind will blow, occasionally strengthening to reach speeds of 35 km/h from a base of 10-25 km/h. In the Arabian Gulf, the sea will be slightly to moderately choppy, and in the Gulf of Oman—slightly.
The highest temperature recorded in the country on Saturday was 48.1°C in Musayrah (Ad-Dhafra region) at 15:15 UAE local time. According to the Emirates Astronomical Society, the hottest and driest period of the year in the UAE, known as 'Jamrat Al Qayth' (peak summer heat), began on July 3 and will last until August 10, marking the most intense phase of summer on the Arabian Peninsula and in the UAE.
Some areas of the UAE experienced rainfall on Friday, July 3, bringing residents a refreshing break from the intense summer heat. Video footage published by the Storm Center showed rain pouring down on the eastern coast towards the Fujairah and Khor Fakkan mountains, where the sky was covered with dark, overcast clouds, indicating the possibility of further showers in that area.
