During the President's visit to Bekobod, new projects in the fields of transport infrastructure and metallurgy were presented.
Infrastructure Achievements
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the capabilities of the new electric train on the Tashkent–Bekobod route and commissioned the line in Uzbekistan. The state head announced this through the press service.
The President arrived from Tashkent on the new electric train. This 192-kilometer route is planned to serve nearly a thousand passengers daily, and 300,000 people annually.
Electric Train Characteristics
This six-car electric train is designed for 586 passengers and can travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. The carriages are equipped with air conditioning, soft seats, Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, a video surveillance system, and electronic information displays.
Additionally, special lifts are provided for passengers with disabilities and separate spaces for bicycles.
Launch of Metallurgical Complex
Subsequently, the state leader took part in the ceremony launching a new rolling mill complex at the Uzbek Metallurgical Combine. This complex is the country's first facility for producing hot-rolled steel sheets.
The new capacity will allow for the production of 1 million tons of hot-rolled steel sheets annually, which will meet the full demand of the Tashkent and Samarkand metallurgical plants for rolling sheets, and will create 1,200 high-paying jobs.
Development of Raw Material Base
To supply the combine with local raw materials, the 'Tebinbulok' mine is planned to be launched within three to four years, which will produce 1 million tons of steel annually. Furthermore, 600,000 tons of iron ore will be mined from the 'Surun-ota' mine. A new metallurgical plant worth 180 million dollars will be built to process it at the combine.
Also, over the next three years, the production capacity for steel balls will increase from 250,000 to 500,000 tons.
Ecology and Investments
An 'Industrial Park of Environmental Technologies of Uzbekistan' will be created on the territory of the combine, under which six projects for the production of large-diameter pipes, cranes, and filtering equipment will be launched. These projects will create another 660 jobs.
According to Uzmetkombinat, the total cost of the rolling mill complex project is 824 million dollars. The technological equipment was supplied by the Italian company Danieli, and the Turkish company Ronesans Avrasya participated in the construction work.
