During a test flight over the border between England and Wales, a pilot left the message 'Estou aborrecido' (I'm bored) over the river mouth. This happened on Saturday morning.
Message Discovery
The message was recorded on the Flightradar24 tracking website and caught the attention of Aaron Reigns, a TikTok blogger specializing in flight tracking, according to the British newspaper The Guardian.
Flight Details
According to records, the Ravenair company aircraft took off from Liverpool at 11:25 AM on Saturday and completed a two-hour flight, flying over Wirral, Cheshire, northern Wales, and the mouth of the Dee River. During the flight, the pilot spent 20 minutes writing seven letters—IM BORED (which translates to 'ESTOU ABORRECIDO' in Portuguese)—in sharp turns.
Airline Reaction
According to the airline, the pilot, who is an instructor 'around twenty years old,' took control of the Piper Tomahawk for a test flight after replacing a part on the aircraft. Wynn Barrett, responsible for operations at the BBC, assured that the pilot would face no consequences and even highly praised his piloting skills.
Situation Assessment
Barrett noted: 'I think the pilot was just bored since it was only a test flight. But, I must say, it was quite skillful piloting.' He added that the pilot would not encounter problems, but the company attracted a lot of attention. The aircraft has already safely returned to the hangar, and the pilot is on vacation.
Flight Purpose and Concentration
The official also confirmed that the flight was necessary to check the replaced part, even if the route was not authorized. 'I think it was a cylinder that needed to be replaced. So, when that happens, we conduct a test flight with the aircraft to make sure everything is working correctly, and that's how it is,' he stated. Nevertheless, despite the pilot's statement that he was 'bored,' Barrett believes he should have been very focused at that moment. He wryly remarked: 'He was a little bored, but he probably had to concentrate hard at the end to spell out the words, so it probably wasn't boring at all.'
