The Khokimiyat of the Kashkadarya region has introduced temporary restrictions on the movement of heavy trucks during the daytime due to extremely high air temperatures in the region.
Details of restrictions and reasons
Daily restrictions are in effect from 09:00 to 19:00 in the city of Karshi, as well as in various district centers and on roads connecting them. Local authorities explained that this measure is aimed at preserving the load-bearing capacity of the regional road network and preventing premature wear during the wave of extreme heat.
Weather forecast and risks
According to Uzhydromet, an exceptionally hot air mass from the south is moving across Uzbekistan from July 13 to July 17, 2026. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach between +41°C and +43°C overall, with peaks up to +44°C – +46°C possible in northern, southern, and desert areas.
Regional authorities noted that such high temperatures lead to significant heating of the asphalt concrete pavement, which reduces its ability to withstand loads. When heavy transport moves, the softened asphalt becomes very vulnerable to rutting, constant deformation, and other serious structural damage.
Requirements for drivers and neighboring regions
The Khokimiyat strongly urged drivers, as well as enterprises and organizations engaged in cargo transportation, to strictly adhere to the established restrictions and plan their transport operations in accordance with the new daytime requirements. Previously, similar preventive measures were introduced in the neighboring Surkhandarya region, where heavy trucks are prohibited from operating between 10:00 and 19:00 on the roads of Termez, district centers, and the public highways connecting them.
