The Federal Revenue will begin the payment of a special batch of automatic Personal Income Tax (IRPF) refunds this Wednesday (15th). This measure aims to benefit about 3.5 million people who were not legally obligated to file a return in 2025.
Payment details and amounts
The estimated amounts of approximately R$ 460 million will be credited directly to taxpayers' bank accounts using the Pix keys registered with their CPF. Citizens can check the situation through the Federal Revenue's digital channels, such as the My Income Tax portal and the official agency application.
Criteria for automatic refund
This initiative covers individuals who had tax withheld at the source during 2024 and who have amounts to receive, even without submitting their own declaration. The automatic refund was calculated based on data already accessible to the Federal Revenue's systems.
Differences from the traditional calendar
The special batch has different rules from the standard schedule for the 2026 IRPF refunds. It was specifically designed to reach taxpayers who were not obligated to file but met the requirements to receive the reimbursement. According to the Ministry of Finance, this was feasible due to the data present in the Revenue's systems, which allowed for the creation of simplified revenue declarations and, consequently, the identification of refundable amounts.
Conditions and monitoring
Beneficiaries will have access to the automatically generated declaration to verify the recorded data. If any modification is necessary, they can add information or make adjustments before the final receipt. To qualify for payment, the taxpayer must meet several criteria: not being required to file the 2025 IRPF, not having filed a return on their own, having suffered tax withholding at the source in 2024, having a refund of up to R$ 1 thousand, having a regularized CPF, and having a Pix key linked to their document.
The Federal Revenue clarified that this special batch does not replace the refunds scheduled in the regular 2026 IRPF timetable. Payments intended for those who submitted their returns on time will proceed normally, with the next regular batch expected on July 31st. The agency also advised taxpayers to use only official channels to consult information and monitor any phase of the process.
