Uzbekistan Delegation Studies South Korea's Experience in Digitizing Cultural Heritage

This initiative is part of the project 'Enhancing Potential for Integrated Digital Management and Use of Cultural Heritage in Uzbekistan,' which is implemented under the order of the Korea Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA), operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. The main goal of the project is to strengthen Uzbekistan's capabilities in the digital management of cultural heritage objects, with a particular focus on assets in Tashkent and Bukhara.

Activities During the Visit

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation attended lectures on the digital documentation of national heritage sites and viewed exhibitions of artifacts discovered during underwater archaeological research. Specialists also familiarized themselves with the work of the Center for Preservation of Underwater Cultural Heritage at the National Institute of Marine Heritage Research.

Furthermore, the delegation visited the National Heritage Administration of the Republic of Korea, where a meeting was held with Choi Bo-gun, Deputy Administrator of the agency. The parties exchanged information on the current state of cultural heritage digitization in their countries and discussed future prospects for cooperation in digital information projects for national heritage sites.

Heritage Preservation Technologies

The itinerary also included a visit to the Scientific Center for Cultural Heritage Preservation at the National Institute of Cultural Heritage Research. There, Uzbek specialists learned about modern restoration and preservation technologies applied to stone monuments, frescoes, and paper artifacts.
