A major forum for journalists from member and observer states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) took place in Bishkek to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the organization's establishment.
The forum was organized with the assistance of the China State Information Bureau, the Uzhou International Communications Center of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Department of Culture, Television, Radio, Film, and Tourism of Zhejiang Province, and the National Television and Radio Company of Kyrgyzstan 'SHOT'. The event was held under the slogan 'SHOT's Path: Experience of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation'. Representatives of diplomatic missions, ministers, and journalists from the media of SCO member and observer countries participated.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ulan Mamatkhanov, noted that such meetings have become necessary in the current conditions as countries have increased the level of economic interaction. He emphasized that the focus is now shifting to humanitarian projects aimed at strengthening trust between peoples.
At the official opening of the forum, former President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otamboyeva stated that in the mid-90s, interstate trust and economic partnership were of great importance, and the SCO was established with caution. She noted the high level of economic relations today, 25 years later, and stressed that the current task is to strengthen mutual trust between peoples. Roza Otamboyeva expressed a wish for more youth to study in neighboring countries so they can deeply study the lifestyles of these nations and contribute to strengthening friendship in the future.
During the forum, bilateral agreements in various areas of journalistic cooperation were signed, and new projects were launched. At the working tables, participants exchanged experiences and developed recommendations.
