The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has decided to introduce restrictions on the export of oil and various petroleum products from the country. This ban will remain in effect until the domestic market is saturated or a unified oil and petroleum product market is formed within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The new rules apply to the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, crude oil, and other petroleum products transported by both road and rail. However, exceptions have been made for naphtha, fuel oil, and stove fuel. These types of raw materials are permitted for export only after obtaining a special government decision, provided that the finished products are subsequently returned to Kyrgyzstan.
Furthermore, the restrictions do not apply to fuel located in the onboard tanks of vehicles crossing the state border.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has suspended the previously introduced temporary ban on the import of certain types of oil and petroleum products by road transport into the country until April 1, 2027. According to the official decree, these changes were made with the aim of preventing fuel shortages, ensuring the state's energy security, and guaranteeing the continuous satisfaction of domestic needs.
It should be noted that Kazakhstan had previously taken steps to combat illegal fuel exports by limiting the frequency of vehicle entry from neighboring border countries.
