A meeting was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the Agency for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry. The meeting included the agency's director, Abdulla Azizov, and representatives of a South Korean consortium led by the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND).
The parties discussed organizational issues related to the implementation of the 'Intelligent Biocluster' project. The main focus was on creating a modern industrial ecosystem in the fields of biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals, as well as the phased introduction of the project, ensuring its investment attractiveness and economic efficiency.
Representatives from the South Korean side reported that as part of preparing the feasibility study, they intend to conduct a comprehensive market analysis, assess the interest of potential investors, study demand, and determine the investment potential of the future biocluster.
Furthermore, the participants discussed the development of engineering and communication infrastructure, the formation of an effective project management model, and mechanisms for attracting international investments. The Agency's leadership emphasized that creating favorable conditions for investors and providing necessary organizational support are key elements for the successful implementation of the project.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to continue cooperation and coordinate subsequent practical stages of work.
A delegation led by Zoyir Mirzaev, Khokim of the Tashkent Region, held a meeting with Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak, Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Prospects for joint interaction in the fields of biotechnology, science, and genetic technologies were discussed.
During the negotiations, the parties examined opportunities to create joint projects in the field of human genomics. The phased implementation of the 'Personalized Medicine and Genetic Passport' system in the Tashkent Region was also discussed.
The participants focused on areas of interaction that could contribute to the development of innovative solutions and expand scientific partnership. One of the central issues was ensuring the sustainability of agriculture amid climate change. To address problems of reduced crop yields caused by water scarcity and soil salinization in the Tashkent Region, it was proposed to initiate joint research on the genomics of agricultural crops resistant to climate change.
Furthermore, the parties discussed issues of scientifically based livestock development. At the conclusion of the negotiations, the participants confirmed their readiness to combine scientific potential, modern technologies, and practical developments for carrying out promising research and experimental design work.
