A delegation led by Zoyir Mirzaev, Khokim of the Tashkent Region, held a meeting with Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak, Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Prospects for joint interaction in the fields of biotechnology, science, and genetic technologies were discussed.
Areas of Potential Cooperation
During the negotiations, the parties examined opportunities to create joint projects in the field of human genomics. The phased implementation of the 'Personalized Medicine and Genetic Passport' system in the Tashkent Region was also discussed.
Scientific and Agricultural Issues
The participants focused on areas of interaction that could contribute to the development of innovative solutions and expand scientific partnership. One of the central issues was ensuring the sustainability of agriculture amid climate change. To address problems of reduced crop yields caused by water scarcity and soil salinization in the Tashkent Region, it was proposed to initiate joint research on the genomics of agricultural crops resistant to climate change.
Furthermore, the parties discussed issues of scientifically based livestock development. At the conclusion of the negotiations, the participants confirmed their readiness to combine scientific potential, modern technologies, and practical developments for carrying out promising research and experimental design work.
