French national champion Romain Gregorier expressed disappointment after a tough first week of mountain races at the Tour de France, noting that only 'global superstars' can win.
First Week of Races
Gregorier, who is a strong rider but not a pure climber, won the French national title a week before the start of the Tour de France. This season has been the best for the 23-year-old athlete, including reaching the top four in major one-day races such as Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold Race. However, during the first week of the Tour de France, characterized by high temperatures and a fast pace, he could not cope with the load.
