A new electric train has been launched on the route between Tashkent and Bekabad. The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited Bekabad on July 13, arriving from Tashkent specifically on this new train set. At the station, the head of state was presented with this set, which will now operate along the direction between the capital and Bekabad, according to a statement from the president's press service.
Characteristics of the New Train
The route is 192 kilometers long. It is planned that the train will carry about 1000 passengers daily, and the annual passenger flow will reach 300 thousand people. The EP3D set used is manufactured by the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant in the Moscow region since 2016.
Technical Features and Equipment
A six-car Russian electric train of the EP3D model will operate on the line, designed to transport 586 passengers. The maximum speed of this train is 120 km/h. Various amenities are equipped inside the carriage: air conditioning and heating systems, soft seats, lifts for people with disabilities, as well as USB ports for charging and Wi-Fi access. Additionally, there are spaces for bicycles, electronic information displays, and a video surveillance system.
Significance for the Region and Development
It is expected that the introduction of the new electric train will provide additional benefits for residents who regularly use transport for work and study. This also contributes to reducing the load on roads and increasing the share of environmentally friendly modes of transport. This route development is being implemented in accordance with the president's decree of December 27, 2025, which aims to increase passenger transport indicators on local railway routes by 2030.
President's Instructions
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed further advancement of railway infrastructure, improvement of passenger conditions, electrification of existing lines, and landscaping of territories located along the railways. Special attention was paid to organizing passenger flow, quality of service, and the condition of station infrastructure. Previously, last September, the president had ordered the connection of Tashkent with all districts of the Tashkent region via high-speed electric trains, which, according to him, should stimulate demand for housing, services, and infrastructure, allowing residents to commute to Tashkent daily.
