The fleet of the Tashkent Metro has been expanded with three modern four-car electric trains. These new sets are intended to reduce the intervals between trains, improve the level of services provided, and gradually retire outdated carriages that have been in operation for a long time.
Improving Metro Efficiency
As part of the fleet renewal, it was noted that the new trains will allow for the stabilization of the traffic schedule, increase the overall capacity of the system, and ensure the ability to cope with the growing number of passengers. Furthermore, the carriages are equipped with necessary equipment, including air conditioners for hot summers and a heating system for cold winters.
Future Plans and Other Improvements
The rolling stock update is not the final goal: the Tashkent Metro intends to purchase another 11 modern electric trains by the end of 2026, with the introduction of these sets into operation being carried out in stages. Additionally, rooms for mothers and children, as well as toilets, have recently been opened at the 'Mustaqillik Maydoni' and 'Bodomzor' stations in the metro.
