The Silicon Valley University recently attracted public attention by announcing a scholarship of $15,000 USD for Minecraft players who have completed all 115 in-game achievements.
According to the university's official website, all achievements must be verified through public profiles, APIs, or clear screenshots from the applicant's account. These screenshots must include the character name, account ID, and visible completion indicators. If a public verification tool or API is unavailable, the University may request video evidence or real-time verification.
The University emphasized that achievements obtained on modded, private, or emulated servers are not eligible for consideration. Furthermore, Minecraft is only one part of the games eligible for the scholarship. These also include Soulslike games such as Dark Souls Trilogy and Elden Ring, survival games like Terraria and No Man's Sky, as well as roguelike/roguelite games including Dead Cells and Hades, and MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV.
It is important to note that games and achievements are divided into two tiers: 'Legendary Tier' and 'Mastery Tier'. The Silicon Valley University also provides scholarships for players aiming to complete content and trophy hunters who have reached specific metrics on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
For the 'Legendary Tier', requirements include: on PlayStation—10 or more Platinum trophies (with 3 being ultra-rare, less than 1% probability); on Xbox—over 100,000 Gamerscore with 90% completion in 10 games; on Steam—5 perfect games (100% achievements, average global percentage less than 5%).
Regarding the 'Mastery Tier', the conditions are as follows: on PlayStation—5 Platinum trophies; on Xbox—over 50,000 Gamerscore with 80% completion in 5 games; on Steam—3 perfect games (100% achievements); and on Nintendo Switch—100% completion of maps and shrines in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
