Head of ICRO calls on media activists to broadcast the reality of Iran

Iran lodged a protest with the United Nations after Israeli Defense Minister Yitzhak Katz threatened an assassination attempt on Supreme Leader Mohammad Khamenei.

Iran's Position at the UN

Iran's ambassador to the UN, Amir-Said Iravani, raised this issue in a letter to Secretary-General António Guterres, the Security Council, and the General Assembly. He characterized Katz's threat as 'part of a deliberate and systematic policy of state terrorism' aimed at Iranian officials.

Accusations of Aggression

Iravani stated that this threat is part of 'illegal acts of aggression by the Israeli regime against Iran.' According to him, such actions include the killing of the late Iranian leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as well as other high-ranking political and military figures, which were committed with the participation, coordination, and support of the United States.

Warning and Criticism of the Security Council

He also accused the Security Council of enabling Israel's impunity and warned that Tehran would respond to any hostile actions. Iravani noted that the Security Council's inability to fulfill its duties under the UN Charter has strengthened the atmosphere of impunity and allowed the Israeli regime to more boldly normalize state terrorism, creating an extremely dangerous precedent and posing a serious threat to international peace and security.

Professor Yoo Dal-soon, an expert on Iran, believes that recent regional events, including the war in Gaza and subsequent US and Israeli military strikes on Iran, have prompted many South Koreans to reconsider their old views of the Islamic Republic. However, he warns that any changes remain fragile because South Korean media continues to rely heavily on Western international news sources. According to the professor, the main issue lies not only in politics but also in communication, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. He emphasizes that sustainable changes in perception can only occur through prolonged educational and cultural interaction. Although recent military actions have caused many South Koreans to doubt prevailing narratives, the influence of Western media remains very strong, preventing this change from becoming deep or permanent. Nevertheless, the professor sees signs of gradual change among the younger generation, which increasingly consumes news through social media and digital channels, gaining a wider range of perspectives.
