The AAP National Coordinator Arvind Kejriwal visited a petrol pump and service station in Delhi on Saturday. The purpose of the visit was to speak with vehicle owners about their experience using E20 blended gasoline. He noted that several consumers complained about reduced fuel consumption and worsening car performance.
Discussion of Fuel Issues
During his visit, Kejriwal spoke with both people refueling and those bringing their cars in for maintenance. He emphasized that this interaction helped him understand the concerns of some vehicle owners regarding the use of ethanol-blended fuel.
Following the visit, Kejriwal stated on X that he went to a petrol pump and service station in Delhi to investigate the real situation. He reported that many people told him about the decrease in their cars' fuel efficiency, while some also complained about mechanical problems.
Stance on E20
The AAP leader called the government's statements about E20 fuel 'white lies,' asserting that the reality differs from what has been claimed. He insisted that public concerns affecting daily life must be heard and addressed.
Kejriwal reminded that in a democratic society, the government is obliged to consider citizens' complaints and work to resolve them. Furthermore, he addressed the criticism faced by people who express concern about E20 gasoline, stating that such citizens cannot be ignored or dismissed.
Purpose of the Visit and Government Reaction
He clarified that his trip was aimed at studying the experiences of ordinary consumers and including their feedback in public discussion. Kejriwal added that decisions affecting people must take into account their opinions and concerns. Last week, the government published a detailed response to what it termed disinformation on social media regarding the country's E20 ethanol blending program, rejecting claims related to engine damage, insurance invalidity, and environmental harm.
