According to the Committee for Ecology, 744 cases of fires on agricultural land cleared after the wheat harvest have been registered in Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2026.
The Committee reported that violations related to stubble field burning are detected using aerospace data. To prevent such incidents, regional administrations sent 7,760 warning letters to farms.
Monitoring was conducted by units of the regional Ecopolice. Based on the analysis of satellite images provided by the Uzbekcosmos agency, authorities were able to identify fires on agricultural land cleared after the grain harvest. State inspectors conducted on-site inspections for each identified case.
As a result of the inspections, 172 violators were held administratively responsible, and the total amount of fines imposed amounted to 212.5 million sums. The estimated environmental damage caused by these violations reached 652.3 million sums.
Furthermore, the Committee for Ecology noted that preventive and compulsory measures aimed at stopping the burning of stalks, dry leaves, branches, other plant residues, and construction waste in fields and settlements revealed 9,821 violations. Administrative proceedings were initiated for all these cases in accordance with established procedures.
