An international educational and practical seminar was held in Syrdarya dedicated to studying international experience in the field of phytosanitary safety. During the event, modern methods of phytosanitary control, export requirements, and plant quarantine were discussed.
Since compliance with phytosanitary safety requirements is of paramount importance when exporting agricultural products to foreign markets, the seminar was organized in the Syrdarya region. The main topic of the seminar was the study of 'Plant Quarantine, Inspection Programs, and Export Requirements for Fruit and Vegetable Products to European Union Countries.'
The event was conducted as part of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia. Inspectors from the state phytosanitary supervision and specialists from the Quarantine and Plant Protection Department of the Syrdarya region, as well as experts from the Plant Protection Service of the Republic of Latvia, took part in it.
During the seminar, participants were provided with detailed information on the phytosanitary requirements in force in the countries of the European Union. Procedures for inspecting fruit and vegetable products intended for export, sampling processes, pest monitoring, and control systems were reviewed.
Experts from the Latvian Plant Protection Service, including Gunita Skupele, Agita Pense, and Liga Grishane, gave lectures, paying special attention to preparing products for export in accordance with international standards, completing phytosanitary documentation, and effectively using modern control mechanisms.
The practical part of the seminar took place in the orchards of the Syrdarya region. Specialists were able to practically master the processes of inspecting export products, identifying pests, taking samples, and conducting phytosanitary control.
Sardar Sadullaev, Deputy Head of the Quarantine and Plant Protection Department of the Syrdarya region, emphasized the importance of such training events for specialists, as they allow them to study world experience, master modern approaches, and apply them in their work. He noted that this contributes to improving the quality of agricultural products produced in the region and expanding export opportunities.
At the end of the seminar, certificates of successful completion of the training were awarded to all active attendees.
A business forum between Uzbekistan and Poland took place in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, marking a significant step in strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries. Over 150 representatives from government bodies and businesses attended the forum, where opportunities for expanding exports, industrial cooperation, and entering the European market, as well as investment issues, were discussed.
In recent years, economic ties between Uzbekistan and European states have shown steady growth. Poland, being one of the largest economies in Central and Eastern Europe, is considered an important partner for Uzbekistan. According to data from the National Statistical Committee, the volume of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and Poland reached 164 million US dollars in January-May 2026, indicating a growth trend compared to the same period last year.
The business forum in Warsaw was held with the participation of a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. The event was opened by Davron Vahobov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Andrzej Arendarski, Chairman of the Polish Chamber of Commerce. Participants included representatives from state bodies, chambers of commerce, industry associations, leading companies, and business circles from both countries.
During the forum, issues such as the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan, creating a favorable business environment for foreign investors, the results of economic reforms, and ways to advance trade and economic and investment cooperation between the two states to a new level were reviewed. Opportunities in Uzbekistan's electrical engineering industry, food product exports, and textile sector were presented, as well as potential in innovative and high-tech sectors. For its part, Poland provided information on its business climate, investment opportunities, and prospects for Uzbek entrepreneurs to enter the European Union market.
Representatives from Uzbekistan, including Amirsaid Azamkhojaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Poland, as well as representatives from Polish agencies—the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, and the Polish Chamber of Commerce—participated in the event. These participants put forward a number of initiatives aimed at deepening economic partnership.
At the conclusion of the official session, the parties emphasized the existence of significant, yet unrealized, economic potential between the two countries. The parties expressed readiness to expand cooperation by activating direct contacts between business communities, increasing the volume of mutual investments, and developing joint projects. The practical part of the forum was dedicated to bilateral meetings (B2B), where entrepreneurs discussed issues of expanding export-import operations, creating joint production capacities, implementing new investment projects, and forming long-term partnerships.
Since Poland is one of the key logistics and industrial centers of the EU single market, which covers over 450 million consumers, this business forum in Warsaw is of great importance not only for increasing trade turnover between the two countries but also for diversifying export geography and attracting new investments for Uzbek producers in the European market.
